If you can listen to Salvy and Alcides in an interview without a giant grin on your face you probably are a soulless vampire

So easy to tear a facial muscle when they team up.

Definitely the Top 5. Especially close between Escobar and Perez on any given day.

The Royals are the dream team of intangibles.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Sys, you are right IMO. Duffy is our best starter. I'm so happy for him.

I said this to some "hardcore" Royals fan tonight and he laughed at me and said I didn't know anything about baseball and that Vargas and Shields were better. So I'm climbing the ranks of Royals fans pretty swiftly, I'd say. And if you divided enthusiasm by the number of days you've been a Royals fan I think I'd be pretty gosh darn close to #1.

It's great to be in a position where there's legitimate debate over who our best pitcher is.  In the past, we were lucky to have a single solid arm.  Like, remember the days when guys like Jason Grimsley were the jewels of our rotation?

Right now, 4 out of our 5 starters would likely be in the starting rotation for almost every team in the majors.  (I don't include Guthrie b/c he's a flyball pitcher that sucks in smaller parks and altitude).  We've got arguably the bst 8th/9th inning combo in all of baseball.

these are good problems to have.

Grimsley was a reliever
yeah, you're right.  he was only a reliever for us.  I think he started for other teams, tho.  point remains.  in the Grimsley era, we had guys like Runelvyz Hernandez, Jose Lima, Jimmy Gobble, Jeff Suppan.  we had no aces.  these guys were all terrible.

You're spot on. We had nothing. It was awful.

I knew he was playing poorly, but I was afraid to look at the numbers, and they're just awful. Send him down and hope that he gets things worked out in time to help the team down the stretch. It's time for the Royals to stop handling our high draft picks with kid gloves.

Actual Opening Day starters for the Royals during that period: Scott Elarton (went 4-9), Runelvyz Hernandez, Jeff Suppan (x3), Brian Anderson (went 6-12). Of course, let's not forget that oscar Chen started Opening Day 2012 and Hoch in 2011, so we're not that far out of the woods.
