@jonmorosi: Just spoke with Royals GM Dayton Moore. He said he is "not even contemplating" changes to coaching staff or job of manager Ned Yost.
Face palm number one on the day!
http://msn.foxsports.com/kansas-city/story/frustrated-moore-says-royals-poor-offensive-approach-has-been-addressed-050614GM Dayton Moore is frustrated like Royals fans that the Royals aren't scoring more runs & winning, but he won't make a coaching change. Moore says he won't make a trade & says "It's the players who have to be accountable".
Yeah Moore will hold players accountable like sending Aaron Brooks down to AAA after he makes his MLB debut Saturday pitched a scoreless 8th & Yost throws him to the wolves in the 9th & he gave up 6 runs to the Tigers. The Royals were down 3-0 going to the 9th inning & Yost gave up on the game (just like the game on Thursday with the Bluejays & Mike Mariot was pitching). The Royals scored 2 runs in the 9th & lost 9-2 because Yost thinks a 3 run deficit is too hard to overcome & wanted to save his bullpen. He was quoted early last week that he will not look ahead & save the bullpen if the Royals have a chance to win that day.
Moore is too damn emotional to be a MLB GM, he gets too attached. Yost is "his guy" (after Trey Hillman was "his guy") & Moore doesn't want to make the tough player moves. Justin Maxwell was a big spark down the stretch last year but this year he isn't doing anything & he is out of minor league options. Moore won't designate Maxwell for assignment (teams have 10 days to claim him & if nobody picks him up you can send him to AAA). I so want Moustakas to live up to expectations but right now he is not & Moore doesn't know what to do with him.
What is the big change that Moore is going to make? Tell the coaches don't let the players hack on a 3-0 count.
