I was there earlier, with that glimmer of hope, and then they dashed it a couple of weeks ago.....

The script over the next few weeks:

they win some more games, get ever soooooooo close, only to tank the last 2 weeks.....lose 10 out of their last 14 games to settle for 500. You watch....

This is what my brain tells me too. But, the irrational sports fan in me continues to check the wild card standings and the repsective schedules of those teams ahead of us. And I've learned that all of the teams ahead of us have a lot of games against eachother and, therefore, our dream may stay alive.

We just have to get through 12 straight games with Detroit and Cleveland. How hard can it really be to win .700 of those games???

Damn. Sal took another one in the mask, stayed in the game, singled in a run in his next at bat...then Ned and the trainer checked him and took him out. Sal is a stud, but he's getting punished by those fouls game after game.
