madson got lucky.  not because of the call, because they walked and hit the crap out of him and didn't get even a single run.

1 walk and 1 bunt single

sometimes rules are so stupid. the replay guy should've told him right away "safe at 1st, out at 3rd" and that should've been that. the goal should be to get the call right if we're going to have replay.

one fly ball left inside the park only due to the grace of god's wind.  one line drive double play that could not possibly have been hit any harder.

Good job, Ned. It would have been tempting to see if he could go further today. Need that dude in the playoffs/w's.

I like to think we're 4-1 in our last 5, because I don't count the Guts or the B team game.

Accurate, though I would call it the "Ned, you're drunk!" game.

CF3's updated playoff roster:

C
Butera
Perez

INF
Hosmer
Zobrist
Escobar
Colon
Moustakas
Morales

OF
Gordon
Cain
Rios
Dyson
Gomes
Orlando

SP
Cueto
Medlen
Ventura
Volquez

RP
Duffy
Young
Madson
Herrera
Davis
Hochevar
Morales

Morales sneaks in, because there's no one else. Having Duffy and Young out there make him basically an emergency only guy, or to come in when we're down by more than 5. I go back and forth on Gore. As much as we all liked him, remember that he never impacted a game in last year's playoffs in a way that led to a run. IMO, Gore being on the roster makes Ned too trigger happy to pinch run, like he did in the 6th inning of a 1 run game in the 2nd game of the World Series last year. He took out Billy when Billy was clearly hitting well that night, when you didn't know if you'd need Billy's bat again. I think Dyson provides enough of the ability to get a steal late, and Orlando can PR as well. Both those players are defensive upgrades in RF as well. If you want to argue Gore over Gomes, I guess that's ok, because in AL games I don't see who Gomes would PH for. Last year Ned PH Willingham for Moose in the WC game, but with Moose's improvement this year, I doubt he does that. Escobar is the worst hitter in the lineup, but Ned doesn't like to remove him from games.

yeah, gore over gomes for me, at least for the DS and CS. WS would make sense to have gomes to PH for a pitcher.

agree with everything else.

we got Gomes because Rios was a black hole. Rios being serviceable has made Gomes irrelevant. Gore makes the roster.

100% agree. Gomes was an insurance policy that we no longer need.

leaving gore out makes me think you aren't taking your postseason roster seriously, c43.

here's another thing.  ventura is the game 1 starter.  shapes up cueto 2, volkie 3, medlen 4.  they could change it up, of course.  but that seems about right if everyone pitches adequately to finish the season.
