Alright guys, we're coming down the home stretch toward the all-star game. What record do the Royals need to have over the next fourteen games for you to feel satisfied with this important two week grind.

10+ wins:  :pbj:
8-9 wins:  :Woot:
6-7 wins:  :dunno:
4-5 wins:  :dubious:
3 or less wins:  :'bye cruel world:

What if I told you that I've been saving all of my votes for the final week?

it would make me incredibly angry.
Well I just used up the 35 votes for my first address so calm down. Yeesh.

I haven't read the royals thread that often but is sys always this adorable in here

usually even moreso. last week he wanted hosmer at second and we had to break down why a left handed second baseman makes zero sense, at which point sys began to wonder how possible it might be to teach hosmer how to throw right handed. it was like a baby sitting next to a panda who are encircled by ten sleeping kittens with a rainbow in the background.

i think we should just tell the As that well give them 1/3 games if they promise not to hurt any of our players with their noodle arm fastballs at our heads. is that fair or should we risk it and sweep them?

glad we didnt offer them a plea bargain
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

i've done a little more research on that, actually.  did you know that moose, gordon and george brett all hit left-handed, and threw with the right?  that's basically 100% of all the third basemen the royals have ever had.  so it's obviously something you can learn to do if you put your mind to it.  maybe it's too late for this year, but they should probably make him work on it over the winter.

i think you might have to start working on that when you're like eight.

Lots of fathers try and teach their kids to bat left or switch hit. They don't ever try and teach the other way around when it comes to throwing. That's just silly. You face a lot of righties in your younger years, explaining the reason of why they want these little tikes to hit left.

george brett could throw with either hand.

so you're saying all these guys are natural right-handers that learned to bat left?  never the other way around?  why wouldn't they just be switch hitters if they were going to go to the trouble of learning to hit with their off hand?

Because for a lot of between hitters, they can hit with more power from the left side. I mean, I'm not saying it can't be done, but if you watch George sign autographs, he's doing it with his right hand. Some hitters like consistency and don't like switching sides all the time.

i don't think there's any handedness advantage in golf, so that just sounds like different hands randomly learned to do different things.  like my left hand is better at typing on the left side of a computer keyboard, but i'm still right-handed.

i still think it's probably something that an adult can learn.  i bet they don't even try much.

I've tried to throw left-handed a couple of times. It wasn't pretty.

Sys, did you ever dunk with your opposite hand? And if so, how weird did it feel?

This talk has me thinking about that Jeff Francouer throw that somebody posted a couple of pages ago. That's what it's like for me to try to throw left-handed.

look, everything feels weird at first.  i'm sure throwing with your natural hand felt weird to start with.  people just don't remember it because they were really young when they learned to do that.

teach yourself to throw left-handed and post the results, so these fools will listen to me.

it is much easier for me to attempt a right handed swing than a left handed throw. i don't know why that is, i'm just telling you that's the way it is.

what is the ratio of switch hitters to switch throwers? like, infinity to zero?

yeah, I mean, you bat with both hands anyway. you throw with just one.

There was a switch pitcher who made his debut a couple weeks ago. Also the Royals had one way back who started both games of a double header and threw each with a different arm.
