If we keep winning every game by 9 or 10 runs, we don't need a pinch runner. Having somebody to come in and run during a late inning of a close game could help out a lot, though. It helps more than having somebody who can hit, but won't ever get to hit because he's our 5th outfielder.

I hate it though. Morales gets on late, Ned PRs Dyson, then the game keeps going without the bat in the lineup.

I love it when it works. Hate it and second guess Ned when it doesn't. Ned likes to pinch run and the roster should reflect the manager's style, though.

There is also some benefit to leaving guys like Adams, Sierra, etc. in the minors so that they are getting consistent ABs and continuing their progress. If they were to come up now they only play a handful of games in the next month. We don't really NEED them at that moment so let them play.

colon can play outfield too, i think.  if they didn't want a pr, it might have made more sense to call up another infielder than a 5th outfielder.  i like having as many fast players as possible, so i like the move.

yost never uses pinch hitters or one-at-bat pitchers anyways, so may as well give him a substitute player that he might actually use.

Yea, if the Royals where struggling with depth right now this would be dumb, but they're not. Dyson has only had 1 AB this season and Colon hasn't had one yet and the bullpen has plenty of arms. It comes down to do you call up an extra fielder who is just going to sit on the bench or do you bring up a guy with a specific skill that might actually be used.

By this point it's probably pretty clear to the Front Office that Gore is never going to be a good batter so it's not really hurting his developmental plan to not get regular ABs. Like Townie said, if they're not going to play, the guys they're still hoping to develop as hitters need to be getting the regular ABs at Omaha.

I think some of us are underestimating the impact of Rios being down for a month.

This is why we need to take out every RF we see from here on out to even the count.

I'd rather keep winning games and destroying opponents joy of the game.  :dunno:

We will rarely use a 5th outfielder and PH Paulo in situations needed.  Why not bring up Gore in case we need speed?

I'd love another bat come up also, but why not leave those guys down to keep getting AB reps instead of pulling them up 1 week into the season to sit on the bench for a month then send them back down?

Not underestimating it, just thinking about the best way to deal.
