True, but I like having Shields out there.

Its raining there now, but it looks like the rain will be gone by 5:30 or so.

getting rained out tonight is sort of like choosing to take the stairs when Ray is standing there holding the elevator door for you.

guys, we get to play 4 vs Boston and 7 vs White Sox. that is like 11 straight days at the battered wives clinic. they give you food and warm tea and a blanket and clean clothes. can you imagine how great we'll feel after that?  :excited:

A question I've been asking myself (this is likely my subconscious preparing myself for disappointment) is do we really deserve to make the playoffs? I mean, offensively speaking, we do just about everything that prevents teams from making the playoffs. No walks, no power, free outs everywhere, etc.

We have no true ace pitcher, although having 4 2-3 pitchers is keeping is afloat. 3 dominant RP's that are unhittable and the rest is just kinda meh.

The fact that this team is where it is through 140+ games through the season is beyond me.

Am I just a loser with a defeatist attitude? I think I get so pissed off at games like last night because there is a HUGE weakness on the team and not only do they deny the weakness, or at least don't acknowledge it, they actually encourage it.

Free swinging and over-aggressiveness can get you on some hot streaks but holy crap it can also knock you out of the playoffs. Do teams that play as dumb as we do deserve to make the playoffs?

Go Royals  :royals:

getting rained out tonight is sort of like choosing to take the stairs to the 19th floor when Ray Rice is standing there holding the elevator door for you, but Lawrence Philips is waiting on the 13th floor.

I would rather have James pitch twice against the Tigers than any other team on our schedule. If we are rained out, we'll likely only get James against them once.

Billy and his .340 lifetime average vs. Porcello sitting tonight.

Not sure why 1 player is punished everytime he plays poorly, but the other players are given free reign.

Yeah, its strange. I get that Billy has 2 hits and 2 RBIs in his last 25 at bats, but this will be his 5th time sitting in the last 9 games. He sat 1 time this season (granted, several games he just pitch hit) before that.

Lack of hussle? Other players have pics of Ned? Who knows. Weirdly framed question. Sounds very little League parent-y

I'm just attempting what it would take for Infante to sit for 3 straight games, considering how useless he's been. He's been worse than Getz since July.

I mean, is it crazy for Hosmer to sit a game? He's sat 0 since his return.

it really is baffling and frustrating. i'm sure it's due to the fact that butler won't be back next year but hosmer will. curious if it's ned's choice or dayton's or what.

it's not baffling at all.  willingham plays over butler because he is better at hitting.  hosmer plays over butler because he is better defensively.  all the other players play over butler because butler can't play their positions (and also some of them are better at hitting).  it's pretty basic math.

Its not just the Butler vs. Willingham thing. How many times will Dyson get picked off before Ned sees he has no baseball instinct? GO GET IN THERE AND RUN JARROD!

willingham is simply a better player.  it's not sitting butler, it's not not sitting willingham.

He has been very average.

i think we're saying the same thing here.  different words, but saying the same thing.

i mean, what are you going to do, not pr with one of the fastest guys in bball?  and aren't you simultaneously hating aoki all the time?  you can't hate everyone but gordon and butler.  they have to put at least 9 guys out there.

it does suck that dyson is always getting picked off, just like it sucks that hosmer sucks and it sucks that they don't have a better dh and it sucks that infante isn't hitting like he did last year.
