You'll have so many corporate tickets downtown too. Oh, we suck? "Hey janitor guy, wanna take your family to the game tonight?!"- "Umm, hell yes I do!"

But don't kid yourselves. Downtown stadium is only an attendance bump for a few years. The team's success matters much much much more.

I partially agree with you.  But the increase in attendance even when we are decent would be substantial over the current location.

Look at Colorado.  Absolutely terrible team and they are 10th in attendance on the year.

Why build more parking garages for a West bottoms location when we can use existing garages already existing in the area between the river and crown center.  For a skyline view that in reality sucks? Head down to the bottoms and you will see a poor representation of our skyline.

Use the infrastructure and bars/restaurants we already have... Don't recreate it in an area I can't easily walk from my downtown condo.

It matters, but I don't think the attendance bump would last only a few years.  I think a downtown stadium would get more businesses vested in ticket packages, suites, etc.

you don't agree that the success of the team is the most important to attendance?

Also if/when the stadium ever moves downtown, the organization will have a new owner.  Preferably, the owners are the local KC guys everybody loves.  They do a pretty good job with everything they touch so I have confidence a downtown Royals stadium will be very successful.

On to tonight's game...

2014: 23,442
2013: 21,614
2012: 21,748
2011: 21,289
2010: 20,191
2009: 22,473
2008: 19,986
2007: 19,961
2006: 17,157
2005: 17,356
2004: 21,031
2003: 22,732
2002: 17,182
2001: 18,967

my final thoughts:
you could lose 100 games and average well above 20k if the stadium was downtown
you could be in a pennant race and average 30k+ if the stadium was downtown

Phil Hughes has 4 ER in 27 innings in August and only 2 BB with 30 K. We're gonna need some bats to wake up a little.

Yes, this is why scratching out that win last night was so big. I feel pretty decent about tomorrow night, but tonight could be tough. Hopefully Hendricks can give us 5 or 6 good innings and the bats come alive following Gordon's jolt last night.

I'm hopeful for 2-1 for the rest of the home series. Then play .500 on the road. We finish 91-71 and win the Central. JMHO.

guys, I've been to 28/30 MLB ballparks, the K is in my lowest 5. it sucks, it's awful. even after the reno, it's so sterile and concrete-y it makes me puke. baseball stadiums should be brick and a little asymmetrical, look at fenway, or camden yards. even the newer stadiums like busch have character. baseball is much more fun when it's played downtown. Even if the team is shitty (baltimore for the last 10 years) there's always a buzz downtown before a game, that excitement and smell of burnt shitty popcorn that means it's time for a rough ridin' baseball game. Or in KC it means a 45 min drive to the middle of a field, stand on a blacktop parking lot to chug a few natty lite's, then walk for 1/2 mile to get to the gate.

I was seriously disappointed when they decided to pump millions back into the K instead of realizing their massive mistake of building two stadiums in BFE. IMHO they should have torn both down and restarted. BUT, we live in the midwest where people LOSE THEIR rough ridin' MINDS if there's not 5 parking spaces for each person in attendance. GMAFB. when there's a full crowds at the K it takes way longer to get out of that cluster eff of a parking lot than any downtown stadium I've ever been to.

It's insanely embarrassing to take out of town friends to the K. they'd want to get a hat or tshirt, so we have to go to rallyhouse or some crap before we leave, they always ask "why can't we just get one from a vendor outside the stadium?" welp, because there are none. because the closest establishment is a rough ridin' denny's across the highway.

Going to the K has no atmosphere, nothing screams Major League Baseball. it's boring, it's ugly, it's old (not the good kind). BUT IT HAS FOUNTAINS!!!  :excited:

We wouldn't have 8000 more per game if it were downtown.

We would if it were cheaper and the weather was nicer and we win for the next five years.
