maybe i'm being weird nitpicky just to find something. idk. maybe i'd be doing the same thing in his situ. i just don't want to lose tomorrow because we had to be 100% to win today instead of 97%. does that even make sense?

also frasor vs everyone else in the 9th. frasor has done it before. he's saved over 30 games in his career. idk. he's a vet. a pro. he's done it before.

i don't understand the "i'd rather win tomorrow rather than today" argument that you're making.
if you're up 2-3 pts today, you put the best closer in baseball on the mound and take the win today.
cross tomorrow's bridge if and when you get to it.

they're not pts they're runs and my argument is that i want to win both. i just think throwing the big three every game we are ahead and holland every single time we are up 3 runs or less in the ninth is a little overkill. like continuing to beat the horse that is 97% going to die anyway. save some energy for that horse you need to beat tomorrow. just an imo though and i could easily argue the other side. hot damn talking royals and baseball strategy in late august is fun.

Holland threw 1 pitch, so yeah he's probably fine today. But it was STILL a 3 run lead, with 2 outs, bottom of the 9th. The odds say that Bueno would've gotten an out. The ball Salvy threw into right field was a flukey play. It was a move that didn't need to happen with having Holland come in for 1 out. I want Davis/Holland to avoid pitching back to back days as much as possible, and last night was a chance to rest them. It wasn't like, a complete blunder or anything, just not what I would've done. Last night was the night to play it conservative and rest the pen studs. I do see the other side though. JMHO.

Mariot was way better than Collins. And I still like Bueno. Big whoop, he gave up a HR in Coors field

Yeah, Bueno is good.

The save stat and the win stat are meaningless. Ned manages with those stats in mind often, and it will bite him.

Fair enough. I'm guessing playing at altitude might have been part of the equation as well after Bueno gave up his first home run this season.

The fortunate thing is it turned into a 1 pitch save.

And I'll go back to our ridiculous winning percentage in this stretch as a major part of this discussion. We don't tend to blow people out, so when winning 80% of our games our best pen guys are going to get overloaded.

The great thing is we are even having this discussion. I mean, 80% wins over nearly a 30 game stretch is just ridiculous and fun. So fun.

This Royals season reminds me of KU's orange bowl year. Just luckboxing win after win but everybody knows they really aren't that good.

Funny you bring that up, I read on espn a while back that this season the Royals had the 4th easiest schedule in the MLB modern era.

KU played an easy schedule. Royals have the #5 most difficult schedule (so far), although SOS matters very little in MLB

Just like the squawks, we will get into the postseason and do some major damage. I want to be in the crowd in KC when the Royals win the world series. That jumbotron is going down. My only worry is that I'm pretty sure the Royals win this thing in 4 games.

Nothing to fear.  Royals will take it in 6.  Guthrie and one of the bullpen guys in the ventura start will take a loss.

the last thing this winning streak needs is a blown game in the 9th. im fine with pitching holland until his arm falls off.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.
