Royals are 2nd-luckiest team by pythagorean in the AL (+4), Seattle is the most-unlucky (-7). However, Royals would be essentially tied with Tigers if both had their pythagorean records, so that's good. Only real concern would be if Royals drop into WC and pythagoreans start to even out between them and Seattle down the stretch. Good news for the Royals is that the remaining sample size is shrinking every day, reducing opportunity for correction, and that their uneven SOS reduces some of the pythagorean significance going forward.

Looks like July 21st was the worst point of the season for the Royals. Looking back, not a lot of posters here were being very Royal at the time. Except for Kim Carnes, of course.

For the Royals to take advantage of their easy remaining schedule, it really comes down to whooping the crap out of Texas, because after that, Detroit's is loaded with Twinkies.
