Did a little research tonight. Coming into this season, Ned had managed in the bigs for 10 seasons. One would think he'd done something right to have that kind of tenure.

In 6 seasons with Milwaukee, he had two winning seasons, although he was fired in the last with his club in the hunt for the playoffs in mid-September. (David Glass: HELLO?? Why fire a guy who has you in contention? RED FLAG?). Had they lost their remaining games, the Brew Crew would still have finished above .500, so Ned gets creds for a winning season.

Before 2014, Ned had managed the KCR's most of five seasons so far, 2014 included. He took over for Trey early in 2010 and went 55-72 the rest of the way. He had a winning season in 2013 (his only winner with the Royals) and is a game under .500 this season.

When Dayton (another problem) brought George Brett back last season as a hitting coach, he also said he brought him back to "rescue us mentally" (per Mellinger recently in The Star). That should have been Ned's job...and the players praised George not only for teaching his approach to hitting, but also for the fact that he brought a winner's and champion's attitude into the dugout and clubhouse. (Implication: Ned did neither).

Ned seems like a nice guy. But, this team needs something more than Ned Yost.

I don't think Ned really seems all that nice

yeah, he seems the opposite of nice.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Dayton is tied to Ned.  If Ned goes, so does DM.  No GM gets to hire 3 mgrs.

especially considering the 1st two were trey hillman(not even goemawing, probly the worst manager in mlb history) and ned yost.

Infante is not in the Omaha lineup today so that should be a sign that he is in Kansas City today.

MLB Network is showing 2 games tonight with regional coverage, LAD/CIN and KC/HOU.  I live in Tulsa and am getting LAD/HOU.  Apparently Tulsa is in KC's home region, so KC games get blacked out on Extra Innings (even though the Royals Network doesn't sell games in OK), but it's not close enough for regional coverage on MLB network.  eff you MLB.

If Ventura is seriously hurt, like, out for the season hurt, we should pack it in and dump Shields for whatever prospects we can get.

I bet at this early stage in the season, Shields could bring back something valuable.

It's 2014, everybody needs T.J.

But yeah, it would really suck.

I'm pretty sure that Lorenzo Cain is my favorite player.

Yeah, I believed we should've traded him and Erv last yr for prospects before the streak happened.

woah woah easy big fella. we're not trading Vargas, he's on a 4 year deal. Holland is really the only other legit candidate IMO who would bring back much of value. If someone wants Billy I'd be shocked.

Alex gives you good value I think but I wouldn't trade him.  Doubt Dayton gives up his guy Shields honestly.

buh bye dayton and ned. don't let the :buh-bye: hit you in the ass on the way out. also, time to fire all the guys in the minors who don't teach OBP and plate discipline. I've had just about enough of the royals swinging at more pitches outside the strike zone than EVERYONE ELSE IN MLB FOR 6 YEARS RUNNING. I'm also tired of the royals never valuing the walk, never seeing the wisdom in working pitchers and getting on base. I'm sick and tired of this free swinging crap, cuz it's proven itself not to work time and again. I'm tired guys.

poor beautiful little yordano  :frown:

It's so bad that I'm ready to burn it down.   Seriously, no one is safe, IMHO.   Honestly, I gave this thread my best but I'm done.    :buh-bye:
