Spotted a guy with his wife and kids at the grocery store a few hours ago here in central Texas.

He was wearing the most glorious purple K-State windbreaker.

I had my silver powercat ballcap on.

It felt a bit too awkward to walk up to his family and go EMAW in front of the kids.

Please advise.   :dunno:

I always strike up a conversation and it usually goes something like this "Hey dumbass, what the eff does this thread have to do with football?"

:flush:

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

i have tried to do this all over the country. usually go with "Go State." they don't realize what is going on right away but eventually they find out. get the    look first then the  :surprised: and then a general look of awkwardness. and "yeah. go cats" if i'm lucky. one time i said it to an old guy in western new york wearing a kstate shirt and he said "oh. i actually bought this shirt because it was on sale down at (insert some local store name)."

Nope, just go, "Hey, are you from Kansas?" Works every time.

When I meet a fellow EMAWer out of state is usually goes down pretty similar to that scene in Braveheart, when the Irish and Scottish meet on the battlefield.  It always ends with some guys giving me a boost on his knee while I wave :kstatriot: and some other bros loft arrows at English dudes.

Note-  this did not go over well in England.

I moved out-of-state about 6 months ago. I've met a couple emaws and had some great conversations about OOD/tailgating/The Chef/Wareham resurgence etc. It's always been worth starting the conversation, even if it's awkward.
Avoid Dlew12, TylerHughes and Ging anytime bananas are within arms reach.

So a football topic would've been a good approach?  Does this frighten kids?

Ive met a few here in South Central too, be VERY careful though... there are many Powertards that migrate south for some reason. I usually approach and do many oftbe above, but when they start spouting about how wonderful it is having OBz back, I usually GTFO as quickly as possible to avoid punches to his grill. But, I've heard of a watch party that I'm considering checking out, if interested PM me and I'll fwd the email to you.

I expect to get spanked by MU, but until then, OB is the greatest coach ever.

When I lived in Chicago in 07-08, was watching the KSU-KU basketball game(that we one) at the only bar in the entire Chicagoland area that would put it on and there were 2 dudes cheering for us next to me. Just asked them if the went to K-state. His response was amazingly  :gocho:

"No, my nephew Jacob plays for you guys."

I was in the Mayfield suburb.  :ksu:
