Big 12 Coach of the Year
« on: February 09, 2010, 01:05:20 PM »
At this point in the season, I would have to say that no coach deserves it more than Turdgeon.  What say you goEMAW.com?

My ballot:
First-  Turdgeon - doing the most with the least
Second- Martin - doing well
Third - Drew - doing the second most the the second least
Fourth- Ford - doing pretty well but not better than Turdartinew
Fifth-  Self - doing what was expected, hard to lose when you cheat/recruit the way his staff does, league officials working hard to secure the B12 a #1 seed

Turgeon is having a great year, especially considering that Roland got hurt, but in my completely biased opinion I really don't see how it doesn't go to Frank

Its Frank, by a lot. When you consider projections before the season had us outta the top few teams of the league (I believe KU,TX,MZ and OK all were picked ahead of us) to where we sit now, how can you make a case otherwise? Frank is the #1 coach in the league and I'd argue nationally also.

I think Frank will get it because of the attention he has already received.  Frank has become somewhat a bit of a buzz word of a coach in the national media lately.  I think that carries him to the top vote.

No way The Rug deserves it.   He has that team operating at about 75% of what their output could be.

Self deserves it at this point.  He has destroyed the conference.

How Turgeon has convinced everyone he has sh*tty talent, I have no idea.

Yeah, Frank might have a shot if we finish 12-4 and alone in 2nd.

And Turg is a master if everyone believes he is working with no talent.  Roland was a significant loss, but he's got plenty of players to work with.

If we're 12-4 and alone in 2nd, KU probably wins the Big 12 by 3 games.  KU is just so much better than everyone else.

Bill Self is the best coach in the Big 12, and it's really not even close.  If Self wins a 2nd national title this year, he'll start being recognized as the best overall coach in the country.

SLTH of the year? I'm leaning towards Doc just because of that amazing "we get everyone's best shot because they know they should beat us" speech.
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."

I guess it depends on how your define coach of the year.  If it's whose team who win the conference then its a no brainer.

No doubt, Self will likely win it if KU goes undefeated in the league.  But if Kansas would stubble in one game, finishing first when they were the unanimous pres-season pick compared to taking the team that was picked fourth and getting 2nd may garner enough votes for Frank to win it.

agree on both counts.  if ku wins what is considered the most difficult league in big 12 history (which is debatable) and does so undefeated or with just one loss, he should prolly get it.  almost could have the same turg take but with drew.

And I would agree that Self should win the COY, again.  Martin 2nd place unless he can manage to beat Self in AFH, then he should prob get the award.
