So you're saying that a guy who takes an unranked, young team that was expected to finish 5-6 in the B12 to being top 10 and looking at a 2-3 seed doesn't deserve COY?

we are anything but 'young' and we were exected to finish 3rd or 4th according to the coaches preseason poll

We're fifth in the conference in average class per minute.  So we're kind of the teenagers of Big 12 basketball teams.

we may have some inexperience in a few spots but we aren't young.  we start a 5th year SR, SR, JR, 4th year JR, and a 23 year old JR in Sutton.  Samuels is a 2.5 year soph.  Then we bring in a bunch of freshman after that.

He was expected to.  What has he done this year that was above and beyond national expectations?  I'm in no way bashing Self, just expressing my point of view.

"Exceeding expecations" ain't the criteria for COTY.  If it were, you'd have to put Bzdilek in the conversation.

KU started three freshman and a sophomore last season on their way to a Big 12 title.  You think anyone will actually be impressed if K-State finishes 2nd?

Why?  K-State clearly has the 2nd-best collection of talent in the North.  You guys should expect to beat Colorado, Iowa State, and Nebraska twice.

1st you are talking about finishing 2nd in the conference not the division

2nd lots of people are impressed at not only the collection of talent but turning that talent into winning.

3rd finishing 1st with the most talent doesn't impress anyone ???

Didn't say we were young.  Just kind of average.

We've gotten some very good minutes out of most of our freshman this year.  Had frank not coached em up, that's the difference between where we are now and losing those close games we've played and being an unranked bubble team.  Yes we have experience in the starting lineup, but not on our bench and the depth has made us better.

Hey Ben, on the other board you said KSU was the 3rd or 4th best team in the Big 12. Which teams are better than KSU besides KU?
