I would take RG3 over Martinez in a heartbeat.

Don't get me wrong, _FANalysis does a great job, but I would love to see picture diagrams like the dude on Shaggy Bevo does.  Would really help LFBIQ people like me, and raise the _FANalysis to another level.

Just to throw in another wrinkle, I think we may as well assume that it is gonna be wet on Sat. If that is the case, I wonder who is more vulnerable? It used to be that rain affected the passing game to the point that offenses were limited to pounding the rock. However, in the past several years, thanks to better equipment (shoes, gloves, wicking jerseys) it doesn't seem to be the factor that it once was. In fact, I would go so far as to say that the rain probably slows down a rushing attack moreso than the deep ball when played on grass. Obviously we are on turf on Sat., so slipping is more of an issue than getting bogged down in the mud and one slip by a DB would mean separation that would be unrecoverable in wet conditions. If my premise is correct (open to debate), the rain may slow down K-State's biggest weapon (Thomas). Sure, it will slow down RGIII too but we all know that he has been extremely acurate with his passing and our receivers should get some of those wide-open looks downfield.

Rain hurts the run game more than the passing game???  :surprised:

:dunno: seems pretty accurate to me.  He won't run for 30 yards, but he'll make the right read and gain 4 yards pretty consistently.

No. Our zone read has only been effective against KU. KU was the reason for that, not Queso.

I thought the analysis was good, but maybe under-emphasized the danger that we face at the hands of a mobile, running QB.  If Griffin does what Martinez did to our D, it's going to be a long day (listening on the radio).

That is very well done.  It looks like that poster took screen shots from youtube and brroke down a couple plays, I could do that as well.

Overall, the Baylor poster does a nice job of breaking down the game.  From what I've seen Baylor does not run nearly as much zone-read scheme as Nebraska does.  I think we can limit the huge plays that Nebraska had, but Baylor will likely have plenty of 10-20 yard plays.

_Fan how much did you look at Baylor tape?  From what I have seen RG3 is nowhere near as explosive in his first few steps (through the hole) the Martinez.  How would you rate the two of them with regard to top end break away speed and explosiveness through the line.

I'd say that assessment is correct.  Martinez is a straightline speed guy and has a good initial burst, but he isn't going to make you miss.  Griffin is much better laterally, and has a nice burst, but he's not going to run away from you like Martinez over 30-40 yards.

Like I said, Griffin is also prone to try and make plays on his own.  Sometimes that is really good for Baylor, but sometimes really bad as well.  Martinez didn't do that, he was going to play within NU's scheme.

Plus, as I said, Baylor's scheme is much different overall than Nebraska's and their personnel is much different.  Baylor is really close to CFU's personnel, but very different in scheme.  We haven't really seen anyone that will run offense like Baylor will this week.  The biggest keys will be limiting a) triple option zone read, b) zone read with a power look (pulling a guard) right at the center of the defense and c) Baylor's bubble/slip passing game.

He's probably better, but a big reason Griffin's completion %-age is really high is b/c he throws a lot of safe routes.  When you throw bubble/slip screens 15 (or more) times a game, you're going to bring your %-age up a lot.

screens, bubbles, and zones reads don't worry me so much with our linebackers.  I think athleticism kills us more then anything else.   I think our LBs and DBs are smart enough to see what is going on.  Being able to physically get there has been another issue.  Screens and reads I feel require more smarts to stop then athleticism.  I feel very good about our corners shedding blocks and making sure tackles.  Getting safeties involved kinda of worries me.  TH has shown that he isn't always in the right gap at the line and/or edge of the play.  If he plays out of his mind that will be a massive advantage to our defense.

I think our linebackers and safeties are both slow and constantly out of position. Most of the big plays they have given up this year have been because somebody is out of position. Having more athletic players would just turn the 80 yard gains into 30 yard gains. The corners are pretty good, but I'm not sure how well we will defend the bubble screens.
