I'm on board with the thought that Petro made this statement just to see how many threads would be started.  BTW, his screen name is (+1 Hidden).

Wasn't that Cripps rough rider the same guy that said Arthur Brown would be eligible this year?

If so, :excited:

I'd be pretty surprised if he came here as a DC without a HCIW tag guaranteed.

Why? Does he have a lot of other HC offers at major programs laying around at the moment?

Why does everyone keep bringing up HCIW when we have an HC that has said over and over that he doesn't want to coach any more?

It's about taking a step back. This isn't the NFL, coaches rarely are willing to take a lesser role at the college level. He'll end up as a head coach at a lesser school or a d-coordinator at a big one.  Highly doubt he takes the same role he left a decade before. That would reek of failure

Whereas his firing reeked of success?

We are a big school, btw.

While he was at USF he did have some very bigtime programs interested in him as a HC.  (Bamax2, Miami). Like ChiCat said, I expect him to end up as a DC at some bigtime program or as the HC at a smaller name school.  Tons of schools need HCs or DCs every year and I expect him to be on a lot of lists...

Not saying the firing was a success, but going back to your previous job after leaving for a better one is shameful in any field. And by big school, I meant perennial top 25 team or at least one that goes to bowls and junk.

This seems to be a valid point.  3 years ago Nick Saban was not the Tide's first choice.  Leavitt was.

And now the guy isn't good enough for KSU?  He is "meh?"

you people are crazy.

Leavitt took a program from a trailer down by the river to a BCS conference.  In the 9 years his school was in Div I his defenses ranked in the top 30 in total defense 7 times.  In the five years he spent in the Big East all five of his defenses ranked in the top 30.

KSU has not had a defense ranked in the top 30 since 2003.

We have a basketball coach that absolutely, positively hit a player last year, but we are disgusted with the thought of hiring a football coach who "allegedly" slapped a player?  A guy that feels so strongly that he is innocent that he is battling with the school in court?

Hypocrisy.

And worse.  Stupidity.

His "hitting" a player has nothing to do with with me not wanting him as head coach.  His losing Big East record does.
