Harper @ QB?
« on: October 13, 2010, 04:30:20 PM »
I hate to even mention this but Kellis' report today mentioned that Harper has been taking snaps @ QB in practice.  I imagine it was out of the wildcat but the article didn't specify.  Just thought that was interesting.

On que Kellis decides to do some actual reporting of something happening now and he does so when we are going against his team, concerning what Bill has the guys doing in practice for that team.   Gotta love it.

Good, coaches, give it a shot now that we need him playing receiver.

I have no doubt that if we fall down 17-3 we will see a QB change.

I figure, if OB was going to make a change at QB, it should have happened last Friday.  Just decide who will be your QB, let him have a week of prep as the starter, and see what happens when he is given a full game worth of snaps.  Unfortunately, I just described what happened with Coffman this week.  Pretty sure he's the man and we're stuck with him for the rest of the season.  Which probably speaks volumes about our other options at QB.

And also speaks volumes about the head coach.   :goodbyecruelworld:

Exactly, this may actually be the first thing he has ever reported on his own.

Why hasn't he been starting all year.  It's not like we ever pass the ball or anything!

Harper most likely wouldn't be better than DT in the wildcat.  We almost never throw out of the formation, so we may as well have the best ball carrier running the wildcat.

You think there might be a reason we rarely let DT throw out of the wildcat?

we've clearly been saving that for when a top ten team comes to town during a nationwide ESPN broadcast.

Teams rarely throw out of the wildcat in general.  If they wanted to throw the ball, they wouldn't have their QB split wide while their) takes a direct snap.  And Harper wasn't much of a passer before his shoulder got mumped up, I kinda doubt his throwing ability has increased since then.

Considering we throw 7 times a game, do you really think anyone could come up with any resemblance of an accurate assessment?

We've given Harper the ball in several different ways and he yet to really do anything with it.  Maybe that's why he's not a starter for us, yet.

not every team splits the qb out wide when running the wildcat, some of them remove him from the game...
