on that dos santos goal, why didn't the us player in front of the goal block the ball with his hand?  would they have counted the goal as a penalty?

It would have been a PK and a red card. So they would have scored and we would have been down a man.

SCORES A'PLENTY
Despite offensive flurry, Wildcat defense gives up four consecutive scoring possessions.  Coach's kid spotted listlessly wandering following the game.

Let's not forget Luis Suarez won a World Cup quarterfinal game for Uruguay v. Ghana by doing that.

That late in the game, it would have been a reasonable risk to take.  Yeah, you're a man down but the dude just may miss the PK or the goalie may get lucky.  :dunno:

a weak back line made even weaker by an injury 10 minutes in and a Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) decision by the coach to replace the injured player with the worst possible choice.  Mexico has some good players but to give up 4 goals, even with a depleted back line, is inexcusable.  Bradley should be fired but he won’t.

Adu, Donovan and Dempsey all looked good.  everyone in the defense behind them looked terrible.  coach's son looked terrible all tournament.  Jones didn't look great.  it's hard to play w/ the 2 of them together in midfield as they offer little in the attack.  but the back 4 is so bad you have to protect them with that extra layer of defense in front of them.  but Jones and Bradley did nothing to help them.

I Feel great for Mexican fans who should all feel excited about a team with an incredible attack.  They have some of the same problems in defense as USA but seem to have a little more depth and a better defensive midfield to take some of the pressure off of them.

since the successful run (is winning 2 games against Egypt & Spain considered a successful run?) in the Confederations cup  the USA has been pretty bad.  a lot of this is due to injury and a lack of depth: Onyewu, Holden, Davies, Jones were all potential starters going into the World Cup last year but were unavailable due to injury.  Jones is the only one back in the team and he hasn't proven to bring too much to the table.  i guess it's hard to be too tough on Coach Bradley given this rash of injuries but I have no faith in him regardless of the player's he has available for selection.

Didn't think he was bad all tournament but Maurice Edu should be starting in front of him.

Oguchi Onyewu is the latest enhancement of Sporting. The central defender has signed a U.S. valid contract with the "lions" for the next three seasons.
In exclusive statements to the newspaper Sporting defender for 29 years reveals his ambition. "I come to win at Sporting."

Read the interview with Onyewu in the next edition of the newspaper that puts all green on white.

I pretty much hate all womens sports other than beach volleyball, but I'm actually somewhat interested in the womens world cup this year.  Would be pretty fun to see the US up against Germany, Brazil, or maybe both.  Anybody else watching?

I enjoyed North Korea's claim that they lost to the US because all their players were struck by lightning the night before.
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."

Well I just saw this woman, Monica Gonzalez, as a WWC analyst for ESPN.  Guess she played for Mexico, good enough for me to watch intently.

i've watched more games than i've missed probably.  women's soccer is great - for the casual viewer i don't think there's a major sport with a smaller gap between the men's and women's game.

+1 if you ardently watch soccer and don't watch the WWC then you are simply a mouthbreathing sloped foreheaded sexist.  The skills displayed is nearly identical without all of the ridiculous flopping.

That's absurd.  They'd lose by double digits, the ball skills are identical, there is obviously an ocean of difference physically.  There isn't a men's keeper in the history of the world that would have saved Heather O'Reiley's goal in todays game.

Also, it was a joke, was more thinking of the jabs everybody used to make regarding k-state basketball circa nicole ohlde and jim wooldridge.
