6'/2012/PG/Carmelo Betancourt via San Juan, Puerto Rico has committed to the University of Akron. Betancourt plays on the 19U National team.

a few people advocated recruiting betancourt a while back.  pretty sure he was a 2011 then.

Found out that Eric Wallace just visited us.

He has a year of eligibility left and was released from DePaul not too long ago.  He is looking to do the masters program thing where you dont have to sit out a year.

He transferred from Ohio State to DePaul in 2008 but missed last year with a fractured leg.

Here is what his twitter said after his visit.

ETA for K-State hoops signee Jeremy Jones is the end of July. He had originally hoped to finish juco classes and be on campus by July 5.

So is Jones not going to qualify?  I assume this means he had to take another course to get it done...

I took my last class through email at Adams State," Jones, who signed a letter of intent in April, said. "I'm just waiting on Adams State to send my transcript to (Seward County). Then, my junior college has to send my transcript to K-State. After that, I'll be good.

Likely got the syllabus and assignments/readings through email and had to return the assignments the same way.

Ballin' is a Habit:

Quote
Iowa signs a 26 year old ex-con from the JuCo ranks

I think it is safe to say that we know who the most interesting incoming recruit in the country next season will be.

26 year old Anthony Hubbard, who signed with Iowa on Saturday.

He dropped out of high school in the 10th grade in 2002. One of his brothers was killed that same year. And on December 13th, 2003, was charged with four felonies for breaking into a house and robbing and beating a man in that house. Hubbard turned himself in three days later, eventually getting sentenced to three years and eleven months in prison. He reportedly drove the getaway car.

But that incident, as violent as it seems, was apparently an outlying mistake made by a kid than a precursor to a life of crime.

@CollegiateHoops Iowa transfer Anthony Hubbard will land at Wichita St per reports.

look at wsu, denying recruited walk-ons schollys in favor of last-minute, desperation recruits.

An undisclosed medical condition has led point guard Shane Larkin to decide against joining the DePaul Blue Demons.

The university announced Thursday that Larkin's condition requires him to be closer to his Orlando, Fla., home and thus he will not attend DePaul. Larkin, son of baseball great Barry Larkin, had been the top prospect in coach Oliver Purnell's recruiting class.

hubbard didn't make it to wsu, incidentally.  denied admission.

Stansbury has really been recruiting winners lately.
Sometimes I think of the Book of Job and how God likes to really eff with people.
