at least we have death spiral/desperation/spring recruiting to take our minds off not watching kelly play.

Yeah, I asked him bossi about jones and he said that he hasn't seen him enough to have an opinion on him.  Says a lot, imo, that a guy who does what bossi does, hasn't taken the time to get an idea on this kid.

To be fair, does bossi even evaluate JUCO kids?

that bad?

him, specifically?  i have no idea.  the overall picture of kstate desperately recruiting both leftover guards and leftover bigs, in a year where they already oversigned by one in the fall, have a guy stashed at cloud, and have 95 on the roster as a walkon, is at least that bad.

And to be fair to Frank, putting in the 4 out look we have now should make an easy transition to next year's 5 out look. Jones will look great kicking to Will and McGruds, finishing at the rim, or kicking it to a streaking JHR.

I have heard mentions of this type of thing happening before but don't know the specific situation our staff has with this particular Juco.  Could this just be a favor the staff has given to the Seward staff to get attention to this kid without ever actually using a scholarship on him?

FWIW, Jones isn't the only JC guard UNC is looking at right now(see link below)

http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=78&f=1410&t=7176033

(Grooms appears to be the most highly sought with offers from OK St, Nebraska, and
S. Florida and interest from L'ville along with UNC)

I'd say it's a good sign that UNC is at least sniffing around Jones but it doesn't look like he's the 1 sole 'cruit they're after right now.

In regard to the Jones recruitment/offer, I think it's a good sign that our staff is acknowledging that we are going to need some scoring punch and offensive creativity next year.

From what little we know about him, he sounds decent(good HS pedigree, solid yr so far on a good JC team), big questions are will his scoring/playmaking translate to high major ball and as always with Frank, can he D up? Looks fairly slight in the couple pictures I've seen, but hey, if he can score at a high level, then sign him up(that's just me talking here). With the void Pullen leaves in the backcourt next year and in this late stage in the recruiting period, might as well TRY to at least partially fill it.

:crossfingers: Seward makes it to the NJCAA tourney this year
