Hey, anybody heard anything on that Angel Rodriguez kid? I think he may have played in some tournament this weekend, right?

All kidding aside, it's good that a lot of the recruiting gurus were finally able to see him in action. Telep weighs in here:

"• Angel Rodriguez (Miami, Fla./Dr. Krop) isn't big (5-11) but he's fearless. He plays with the bravado of a bigger guard and takes his chances (six assists, 12 turnovers in first two games). His shot selection gets interesting but you can't fault the effort or hustle he plays with and he gutted out eight offensive rebounds. Frank Martin likes his fearless leaders at Kansas State, guys who play with chips on their shoulders."

I bet Angel is super-pumped about getting to practice with the Miami Heat's Carlos Arroyo and the rest of the Puerto Rican national team this summer!   :excited:

what would be a good comparo to AR-T?  D Lavendar?

people that see him play seem to use barea.  he's puerto rican, don't forget.

Another guy that will be hanging out in Louisville with Rick Pitino this summer.  :runaway:

Puerto Rico must finish in the top two in next summer's tournament to travel to London in 2012. Pitino met with Dallas Mavericks guard J.J. Barea and Miami Heat point guard Carlos Arroyo -- both Puerto Rico natives -- in Miami on Sunday to gauge their interest and came away impressed.

meyer & bossi being mean to ar-t.

Tough and competitive. Average athlete. Solid handler but not a unique playmaker. Scores from the perimeter but didn't shoot it that well at City of Palms.

Don't see as a 150 prospect.

It doesn't sound like Rodriguez played his way into top 150.  Volume shooting point guard who isn't all that quick.

Went 22/70 overall (38.5%) and 5-23 from three (21.7%) with 19 assists to 25 turnovers during his four games at City of Palms.

Goddamned, Sys.  Just when I was starting to convince myself...

Are we recruiting at a Jim Wooldridge level yet or not?  Starting to think we're almost there.

Angel Rodriguez – 5’11, CG, 2011 (Miami, Fla./ Dr. Krop)
The Kansas State signee did not shoot the ball extremely well this week, but his ability to get into the lane and finish strong despite his small stature was impressive.  He has a quick first step and is strong with the ball, making it tough for defenders to stay in front of him.  He looks to score more at this point, and he tends to find a way to put the ball in the basket more often than not, but he will have to take better care of the ball and become a consistent distributor at the next level to maximize his potential for the Wildcats.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.
