I think I'll go on opening night wearing an England jersey

Horrible idea

:eye:

Oh man.  I have one too.  Red Rose and everything!  I will drive down and we will go in there, piss drunk, and sing "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" at the top of our lungs.

I think the owner is an old Tubby's guy. It will undoubtedly go right over their heads.

if this is legal, why haven't more bars done this?  i always just assumed rooftop patios weren't permitted.

It probably has more to do with structural issues in most of these old ass buildings.

so, like, fix'em or whatever.

i guess what i'm trying to say is that i hope this wabash bar is a gamechanger and puts the rest of the aggieville bars on notice.

I've been telling people it's illegal for years. Now all of those people are going to be rubbing this in my face!  :sdeek:

I know that when they put in The Loft a few years back, they were hoping to have a second floor bar and there were some zoning issues I believe. Will be interesting to see how this works and if they have a bar on the patio.

If there is one thing Aggieville needs, its more bars!

MHK might as well pass a city ordinance banning non-bar businesses from Aggieville. The only exceptions would be the Pizza Hut (it's been open longer than any Hut in the country, perhaps destined for the historical registries), the Dusty Bookshelf ('cause of its cultural contribution), a couple of the historic barber shops, and Varney's. And Chipotle's, of course. But that's it.

It's been a dream of a few friends of mine and my own to have basically the entire length of Moro have a second level to it with a walkway, basically a double decker 'ville, hopefully this is the beginnings of it, and in terms of things falling i'd say the best way would be to have the patios recessed from the street a few feet with a nice wall to keep drunks from falling over. but as someone said, what the 'ville needs is more bars, and I approve, and this would be another way to do it. Maybe even add an entire underground area with Mae's being the key starting point of an entire underground scene under Aggieville as well, o man.  :drink:

I have a gentleman's agreement with the owner of the Dusty Bookshelf to purchase and convert the property into the most elite establishment in Aggieville.   What I can share at this point is that the name is down to reVerse or Hyde Manhattan or the Velvet Cat or the Salty Rim and there will be a rooftop bar with a lot of fire, overhead trellis's with lots of wisteria, and copious amounts of outdoor lounge furniture.  We're also commissioning the production of a series of custom Geisha paintings that will adorn the space.  I would describe the atmosphere as rogue, sexy and uncompromising.  Stay tuned.

whats the point of a rooftop patio if you cant see off the roof. more floor space i guess. It would be like a basement without a ceiling.

I would imagine they serve a lot less alcohol at The Well.

The Well is located outside the state lines of the most alcohol-conservative state in the USofA. Just a guess though.
