I don't know how you can come up with a number like that, but he seemed pretty confident about it, and he IS fairly well "plugged in" to things over there.

If this guy knows about stuff like that, you have to imagine that guys like Coach K are going to use it against KU in recruiting.  I sure hope Frank is.

Gosh.  At some point ya just have to take off the Purpel Power shades and look at this for what it is.  Sure these guys are Squawks, and sure we love to "give them some crap" b/c of it....but these are just 19 & 20 year old kids.  To be honest, it makes me sad to see these amazingly talented young men just p*ss their pro careers down the toilet over some "weed" or a "doobie Brownie."  Just imagine if it was your 19 yr old son with all the fame, luxuries and advantages of a Hollywood celebrity over there in Lawrence.... I'm guessing some of us would feel a little bit different and might empathize a little more w/ the KU fans and athletes that suffer the consequenses of the  drug ring surrounding the KU Basketball program.  Just have to pray for these kids, that someday they finally "Get It."  Sounds like Self really has a "weed" infestation that's having long term, debilitating effects on these kids futures.  It's just reassuring to have guys like Frank, LHCBS, and Jon Currie around to facilitate wholesome, family oriented programs that really prepare these kids for the next 50+ years of their lives.

Honestly, I didn't even want to consider that, because it's just too maniacal.  However, at this point it has become a legitimate question.  Look, we have all heard the horror stories of the drug dealers who give away free pot samples to kids, just to get them hooked for life…and then they start charging them.  It appears that something similar maybe happening in this situation.

I'd like to know how many of these kids are getting hooked for the first time in COLLEGE.  At it it's best, the perception is that Self is turning a blind eye to this.  At it's worst, he's involved.

Getting this thread off topic and giving into the BMW jedi mind trick:  Do you seriously think that or are you just talking?  I think KU will be much better than most on here but they have big holes.  When a Morris twin is supposed to be the leader of your program you aren't a top 5 team.  If Selby makes it and can actually lead them it's a different story.  But, I don't see this team letting that freshman lead them.  I see them as probably a bit better than but very similar to the KSU Michael Beasley/Bill Walker team.  Honestly, if Selby doesn't make it (he probably will) or he can't be a leader (he probably can't..at least out of the gates) the leader of your team will be Brady Morningstar.  You better hope Self is smart enough to start him the entire season if so.

I think they'll be better than the Beasley-Walker team, if they get Selby.  But, not significantly better.

My initial post was in reference to KU's team next season, which is why I added Hopkins and McLemore to the lineup.  KU is way out in front with McLemore, and Hopkins could commit to KU after his visit this weekend.  With a potential NBA lockout looming, KU would have another year out of Selby and Mc. Morris.  

As for this season, I definitely expect KU to be a top 10 team with Selby.  Mc. Morris led KU in scoring during conference play last season.  He and his brother Markieff just continue to improve each and every year.  They create matchup problems because of their ability to shoot from the perimeter.  Then you've got guys like Elijah Johnson (5-star #24 on Rivals) and Thomas Robinson (4-star #31 on Rivals) who didn't get much of a chance to show what they could do last year with as loaded as KU was, but they've got the potential to be stars.  Add experienced players like Taylor, Reed, Little, and Morningstar to that mix, and I'd say KU is quite a bit deeper and more talented than the Walker/Beasley K-State team that you are comparing them to.  Releford and Withey were both 4-star recruits with some big-time offers, and they're probably going to be buried on the bench.  

I just don't see ten teams that are hands down better than KU next year.
