Please. Anyone can do framing, finishing, and flooring. Hire someone for drywall, electricity and plumbing. Save $5K.

hmmm.....  I don't want to tell you how to finish your own basement, but until you get a professional to evaluate your wiring, you messing with electronic fire.  This issue combined with the faulty joists you seem to be ignoring has me concerned.  Again, I am not trying to belittle your "home improvements", but it sounds like you're building a death trap down there.
