Last night was an aberration imo

It wasn't.  Their elite Dline Dominated our patchwork Oline.

I dont' think there was much to adjust bc we'd already made the adjustments of Thuney outside etc.  Just did the best we could and got absoultely cooked by better players.

I still think the offensive gameplan was crap.

I am kind of preparing next year to be a tear down to the ground rebuild.

I am kind of preparing next year to be a tear down to the ground rebuild.

I would either do that or go all in on the next 2-3 years and do a bunch of contracts the way the Eagles did them. The halfway in between way we went about it this year is the road to where the Steelers are.

The steelers don't have and didn't pay a QB this year, so I'm very curious what you mean by "halfway in between way".

We're going to have an expensive qb, lots of young players, the occasional expensive star or two that you deem worthy to keep resigning (Kelce, Jones), and fill in the rest with reclamation projects/mid tier free agent signings that you can afford (Brown, Omenihu, Reid). That's what we can expect, starting from July 2020 and going all the way until Mahomes retires.

Maybe he thinks we’re going to give mahomes the year off?

It would help a lot if Kelce retires. Frees up money to get a solid tackle.

The Window (TM) is every year mahomes is playing. wasting any years on a full scale rebuild is insanely dumb. wasting any future years by "going all-in" in any given year is also insanely dumb. you keep being good and making playoffs and you will be rewarded. source: 2023

mahomes is about to enter his age-30 season. i would be surprised if he retired before age 36 or after age 40. wbu?

36 feels right, I don't think he's on the Brady track.

chiefs' final snowbrag ranks: overall (off/def) - result

2018: #2 (1/24) - lost conf champ game
2019: #2 (2/11) - won super bowl
2020: #2 (5/9) - lost super bowl
2021: #3 (1/21) - lost conf champ game
2022: #1 (1/16) - won super bowl
2023: #2 (11/2) - won super bowl
2024: #4 (10/6) - lost super bowl

2024 was the first year with neither side of the ball ranked in the top 5

Bigger roster turnover than we’ve had in a while. Will still be division favorites, beyond that, we’ll see. My wording was too strong

I think we have another soft rebuild like we did after the 2021 season. We killed the 2021/2 draft with creed/smith/Bolton/McDuffie/etc which led to this most recent run but now there is no way we can sign all of our upcoming FA's.

I'm assuming Travis plays for 1 more year, Mahomes plays another 5-10 and Chris Jones has maybe 2-3 more years of elite/good play left. There is no reason to go "all in" for the next 3 years, just do enough to guarantee we make the playoffs each season (where anything can happen with Mahomes) and hopefully continue to draft well.

Assuming Rice comes back the same player after his injury (and suspension) I'm not very worried about the WR room next year with Rice/Worthy as our top 2 options.

I don't mean our roster looks like the Steelers, but I think our outcomes for seasons are going to start to look like the Steelers. By halfway in between, I mean that I think Veach is trying to improve the roster in the offseason, but not jeopardize any future seasons. I think this is going to be increasingly difficult to pull off with our roster and think it would be better to commit to a rebuild for a year or go all in for 2-3 years.

If you all think the window is magically open every year because Mahomes is on the roster, then you are not going to agree. I think in order to truly be a threat to win the Super Bowl next year, we're going to have to sacrifice a couple years in the future. There is too much talent to resign and too many positions to improve. Our non-Mahomes stars are aging and I think their performance is not going to match their cap hits.

Justwin, the Steelers don't have a quarterback and haven't won a playoff game since 2016 (when they had a quarterback). The chiefs have made the afc championship game or better 7 straight years. Mahomes is 17-4 in the playoffs. I don't see any signs that chiefs will turn into a middling team with no qb, just because they ran into an all-time defense talented enough to get 6 sacks without blitzing once. In the super bowl.

You advocated for a tear down rebuild entering Mahomes' age-30 season.

You advocated for going "all-in on the next 2-3 years" which is nonsensical.

You still haven't said what you meant by "halfway in between way" the chiefs went about it this year.

You said the chiefs should "do a bunch of contracts the way the Eagles did them", but I think what you might actually mean is the chiefs should draft incredibly well. I agree that is the key to the next phase of mahomes' career: in his 30s, 3 kids at home, post-kelce.

The Chiefs do need to draft incredibly well, and somehow get a Top 10 pick, but go look at the contracts for the veterans on the Eagles. Guess what word appears in all of them in about 2-4 years. VOID.
