Yeah, Mahomes hasn't been that great and Kelce is basically doing nothing. I did see something that passing yards and passing TD's are the lowest they have been at this point in the past 30 years or something. Weird QB play or defenses finally figuring stuff out??? Not a huge fan of this trend with Pacheco out, but it honestly looks like Andy can get 5 yards per carry for any RB off the street if he wants.

I believe passing yards are down across the league, which is wild with all the rule and emphasis changes the past 10-15 years.

I mean no one will ever know EXACTLY why scoring numbers change year over year but that article had multiple plausible factors. Seems like the prevalence of Cover 2 is a big one.

Yea the cover 2 is the most plausible to me.  Takes more plays to score and lengthens the possessions thus reducing raw scoring. If the link that nic put above is pace adjusted already then I'm full of crap.

Players are just more athletic and it forces teams to run the ball between the tackles.  It's already a sound defense and now teams are circling back to it, safety's are longer/faster than they used to be, corners are better in the run game, linebackers are fast enough to get deep on pass plays etc.

Keeps plays in front and not deep.  Additionally, teams have focused so heavily on quality DE's that QB's no longer have the time in the pocket to allow WR's to break the cover two deep safeties. Seems like any deep pass that is successful is blown coverage or the QB scrambled around in the pocket for a long period of time for a WR to break their route and find an open deep area of the field.

Cover 2 should be made illegal. Such a cowardly defense that is only run by lame ass nerds. DOWN WITH COVER 2.

Once every 4 downs defenses should be forced to have everyone within 3 yards of the line of scrimmage. Instead of sitting back 15 yards like lame ass nerds.

Their schedule is pretty much dog crap outside of their division - the advantages of finishing 4th in their division last year.  I think they'll get their crap together and make it but they're at least out of the running for the 1 seed.

3 of the Bengals next 4 are against Panthers, Giants, Browns. If they go 3-1 or 4-0 the next 4 weeks they'll have a really good shot. If they even go 2-2 and are 2-5 it's going to be tough.
