Even cheaper.

Receivers it will be

Rice
Hollywood
Draft Pick
Watson
Moore
Hardman/James/Toney - one of these

toney is under contract; mecole and richie james are not

I'm aware. You don't see a scenario where we cut Toney and sign Mecole for 2 years 9 million or something?

i do not see that scenario. my understanding is toney costs the same to keep or cut ($2.5M).
if mecole signs anywhere it will be like 1 yr / $2M

ok.

I'm on record as saying I don't believe Toney suits up for the Chiefs again.

not when you take into consideration that he was hacked and it wasn’t even him saying he wasn’t really hurt

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

I think it will be Moore and Toney as the #5 and #6 receivers. Moore has a $1.3 million in pay due with a $1.7 million cap hit that won't change if he's not on the roster. Toney has $2.5 million in salary due with a $2.5 million cap hit that won't change if he's not on the roster. I can't imagine taking $4.2 million in dead money to cut your 5th and 6th receivers.

They're both young, and particularly with Toney, there is a lot of talent there that has the potential to be unlocked. Toney is also in a contract year which hopefully will bring out the best in him.

Getting rid of Moore and/or Toney wouldn't have anything to do with the money.  They aren't contributing enough at a position that gave them every opportunity to contribute last year.  At some point, the Chiefs will want some of those roster spots (Moore/Ross/Toney/Hardman) to bring in a more reliable vet or more promising talent.  The lack of any cap savings is why the Chiefs will bring them all to camp and give them an opportunity to keep their spot.

Irv Smith is going to be interesting as a receiving option. I am cautiously optimistic.

I can't imagine wanting vrabel. Why?
Didn't he say he would cut his own private area off if he went to another super bowl iirc? This would force him to do that and it would be pretty funny!

I think Vrabel is alright but I don't think that Veatch would hire a defensive guy at this time/with Pat/this day and age in football.

He is no question veach's best draft pick so far right?
tough to let him go but it's the best for both parties

They basically gave him away.  They could have played him this year on the tag and then gotten a 26 3rd rounder as a compensatory pick.

The Titans appear to be going all in this year with Will Levis as QB.

They didnt give him away. They got the best return they could for a costly 28 yr old with a knee history playing a volatile position that ages quickly, and saved $20M to apply elsewhere while doing so. And a pick at the top of the 3rd round this year is more valuable than a possible compensatory 3rd rounder next year

Yes, and other players notice when you treat people with respect. It's a business for everyone but these things matter.

Who is the last corner the chiefs paid? I honestly can't even remember.
They've won 3 super bowls now while treating CB like the RB of the defense: keep bringing in young cheap talent and trust your coaching staff. This has basically been their moneyball philosophy
