I'm just going to leave this here for the next controversy about the name or some form of imagery pops up and one of you chiefs fans breaks out either the old h roe bartle argument or the " they're partnering with a tribe."

The Chiefs need to do a better job of controlling their (apparent) fans.

The Chiefs did ban the wearing of that stuff, but the game was in Vegas, who probably has no such ban.  I do agree about how laughable it is when Chiefs fans pretend the team name has nothing to do with native americans.

The kid was dressed up like a chief. He did nothing wrong.

It makes no sense to me that they would ban their fans from dressing up like their chosen mascot.

They don't want to change their name, is why.

Sure, but then they shouldn't try to change their fans. That's backwards.

I think they want to distance themselves from anything that is construed as disrespectful to Native Americans so that they can keep their name.  They should probably just change the name, build a new stadium, and distance themselves from McDonalds colors.

Telling your fans they can't be Chiefs makes everything worse, not better.

Legend has it that Bartle also lived in a teepee and loved drinking fire water. All city commission meetings began with a ceremonial passing of the peace pipe after everyone said "how" at the initial mingling.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the name "chiefs" but there certainly is with some of the team imagery/traditions. The whole Bartle thing is definitely not a valid excuse.

I randomly went to a St. Bonaventure basketball game and looked up their mascot and it was the Brown Indians until 1992(!)

Just thought I would share, seemed relevant

Off the top of my head I'm pretty sure like 90% of states in the midwest and tons of towns are named after Native American words/people. Wouldn't it make sense that our sports ball teams are named after them?

doubling down on the headdress with the black face is certainly a decision

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.
