Do we even have a DB on the roster anymore?

JFC, how many goddamn WR do we need????

The OL is a disaster, our entire defense is in shambles, and walrus is going to blow half our cap space on skill position players.
Our OL ranked in the middle of the league and had the top rusher last year.

Do we even have a DB on the roster anymore?
They've made two moves for DB's this off season, so yes.

Albert Wilson is going to the Dolphins and Chris Conley is coming back from a major injury. Watkins and Hill stretching the field open things up for Kelce and the run game.

Great move.  Watkins + Hill + Conley + Kelce + Hunt for Mahomes

Guys...the defense was in shambles.  It can get worse, but not by much.  Mahomes will be throwing so many TD's we just need a middle of the pack D.

So here is a quick explanation on how Salary cap works and where KC is.

1) in the offseason, the top 51 contracts (by Dollar amount) count against the Cap.  Dead money from past contracts also counts (so Maclin has 4.8M and Smith 3.6M and a few others) KC has 16.5M in dead money for this year

2) You also have a rollover cap from the previous year. This is money you did not use or go over the previous year cap.  The 2018 Salary Cap is 177.2M and KC has 2.6M in rollover (so 179.8M)

3) our current top 51 contracts was at 152.7M.  So you want to be a little under the 179.8 max, so KC probably has roughly 24M they are under

4) The signings of Watkins, Hitchens and Anthony Sherman will go on the books shortly.  These 3 contracts will knock current contract #49-51 off the Top 51.  49 50 and 51 are counting about 1.5M right now against the cap

5) we don't know right now what these 3 new signings will count against the 2018 Cap. Should know sometime soon.    Of course if the Chiefs made any more cuts, they could even have more money off the Cap (as long as that player is among the Top 51 contracts)

6) Lastly, the draft picks for the upcoming 2018 draft.  The Chiefs top 4 picks (2nd 3rd 3rd 4th) will cost about 2.9M against the cap.  Those 4 will knock off the "then current #48-51 contracts off the Top 51". So basically when they draft and sign those 4 draftees, it will cost us about $700,000 against the cap.

The Chiefs 6th and 7th round picks will not be among the Top 51, so they won't count against the Cap here in the offseason

I like getting another playmaker on offense, but 3 for 48 is pretty steep.  He had a solid rookie year (982 yds) and a very productive 2nd year (1047 & 9 TD in 13 games). Last 2 years, injuries and not that productive.

From reading up on Hitchens, he definitely can be a 3 down LB as he is pretty good in pass coverage.

Our defense will be atrocious and Mahomes is never going to have time to make his second read, so it doesn't matter that we're paying for seven "playmakers". This is how it ended in Philadelphia.

Nevermind that WR is like the most disposable position on the field besides RB.

The Oline is not that bad. They're only losing Fulton.

Outside of Peters, who you hate, they're not really losing any impact players from last season. And getting Berry back.

Defense really does need to improve.  Improving OL, which wasn't awful, would also seem more valuable to a young QB.

Not a fan of the Watkins signing.  Seems like he's showing everyone that he isn't that good and nobody believes him.

the only thing watkins could bring is running double 9 routes w tyreek about 16 times per game and forcing teams to have 2 deep safeties all the time. should help open up things for kelce & hunt.

also mahomes can actually throw that route a couple times per game and it will be awesome.

but as FSD said our pass protection is a bit concerning

They're going to make more moves, whether it be through FA or the draft. The fact "they're going for it" with a 1st year starting QB is very promising. It's fun.

I'm not sure how much help they can bring in through FA once the Watkins deal is finalized.

Pretty upset we blew our cap on Watkins before Jordy became available.

I had no idea the salary cap was that complex, what a terrible system.

Somebody in the organization needs to take control of personnel. Every season the OL is a complete patchwork mess. The only worthwhile players on defense ptedate walrus and have been run off to make room for shitty WR. I honestly don't know who is left, but I'm sure they suck. This is a train wreck soon to be captained by a career .500 college football QB.

They have $$ tied up with LDT, Fisher and Schwartz.  Those 3 are signed up for 5 years, 4 years, 3 years respectively.  After next season they could cut either Tackle and it's not a big cap hit (dead money).

We need someone better than Witzmann. I think Ehinger is better than him. Morse is OK. Cam Erving is the other  OL.

We can't give good $$ to all 5 lineman.  Morse can play C or G. We just need a better 5th lineman and we would be fine

Fisher and Swartz are not good. LDT is injury prone. It's an ole offensive line that we have to scheme around by throwing passes behind the los.

Mitch Morse was selected in the second round by the Chiefs and started from day 1. THE OL can be addressed in the draft and/or through trades in the draft. Every move has been fun/needed other than the Peters debacle. Veach is making moves, something the Chiefs fans have wanted for a long time, but here we are, bitching about said moves. Happy we have a guy with some balls running the show for once.

Schwartz was second team All Pro for the second season in a row this season.
