I was real meh on the first round pick even though I think he'll be a pretty decent replacement for Hali at some point, but I really like the players we picked up the past couple days. I think Thomas and Murray have really good value for where they were drafted, and Toub/Reid should be able to maximize both players talent. I think by taking a bunch of players who probably won't contribute much until a couple of years down the line, it tells us that Dorsey/Reid didn't really think the Chiefs' current crop of "stars" were going to be able to do anything meaningful in the small window that we have left with those guys. I do appreciate that they're not blowing the entire thing up though, that's a move for rough ridin' chumps. Stay as competitive as possible while still building for the future.

Good.  If they are going to resign Smith, don't give him anything to work with this season to devalue him and reduce his cap hit for 2015+.

The receiver thing is very weird. Both Philly with Reid and GB when Dorsey where there drafted a lot of receivers. Maybe they have something up their sleeve we don't know about? Either that or they really like Kelce and think Bowe/Avery/Charles/Kelce/Thomas gives them what they want?

Reid said a couple of times after the season that he thinks AJ Jenkins is going to be really good. I haven't seen anything to make me believe that, but I'm sure Andy Reid is much better at football stuff than I am.

Kids, the Chiefs made the playoffs, Clark's got you fellas hooked for awhile.  So relax, the Hunt family has mastered the art form of doing just enough.

Yea, I remember hearing that too now that you mention it. It also seemed like the coaches liked Hemingway quite a bit. I also don't see it, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

If you would have asked me before the Draft which positions the chiefs don't need,  I would have said:

Midget WR
3rd Down OLB
SEC QB with big arm and no other ability

What a crap show. Are we ever going to have a safety that can cover a TE or an offensive line that's not in shambles? How about a big WR that can catch?

So mad right now.

They were drafting for Aaron Rogers, Brett Favre, and Donovan McNabb. It doesn't make a lot of sense to go get stud wide receivers for a QB who doesn't look downfield. It makes a lot more sense to go get the Black Mamba to catch passes out of the backfield and be almost as good as Darren Sproles instead.

I think any of the 3 SEC QBs were really good value at this point in the draft and could potentially be NFL starters down the line.  I'm probably in the minority but I like this draft so far for KC.  A lot of potential in their last two rounds.

I agree.

By the way, I love the pick of the Canadian OL late in the 6th. The dude is freak athlete. He's very raw but tons of potential there. Plus he's already in his med school residency. Everyone talks about a coach on the field, but how many can claim a doctor on the field :Wha:

Dear god, I hadn't even heard of the OL M.D. :flush:
That leaves just the CB from Rice as the only logical pick and he's from rough ridin' Rice. EPIC FAIL

Seems athletic for his size, but I'm not good at grading out linemen.  So, I don't know.

Probably the most interesting pick of the draft for me, personally.
