Listen guys, here's the point. Alex Smith is good. Better than Brokie Croyle and Matt Cassell. Hell, he's even better than any 90s Chiefs QB not named Gannon or Montana. But the thing is, its a QB league. Elite QBs win playoff games and Super Bowls. 2002 Tampa Bay isn't happening again anytime soon, so the Chiefs at some point have to upgrade the position. If the plan is to get the team competitive with Alex and aggressively work to upgrade the position by any means necessary, then I love it, and I will enjoy this fun season. But my fear, is that we'll go 11-5, lose a wildcard game, and the Chiefs will decide we're set at quarterback. At that point we'll have another season or 2 of decent teams in the 7-9 to 11-5 range, no playoff wins, and then the D will age and we'll be right back here.
We have to upgrade quarterback if we ever want to win big. Smith is a great solution for now, but we'll never win big with him.
Now let's beat those Raiders.
PS: I think I would add Flacco to my list.
