Listen guys, here's the point. Alex Smith is good. Better than Brokie Croyle and Matt Cassell. Hell, he's even better than any 90s Chiefs QB not named Gannon or Montana. But the thing is, its a QB league. Elite QBs win playoff games and Super Bowls. 2002 Tampa Bay isn't happening again anytime soon, so the Chiefs at some point have to upgrade the position. If the plan is to get the team competitive with Alex and aggressively work to upgrade the position by any means necessary, then I love it, and I will enjoy this fun season. But my fear, is that we'll go 11-5, lose a wildcard game, and the Chiefs will decide we're set at quarterback. At that point we'll have another season or 2 of decent teams in the 7-9 to 11-5 range, no playoff wins, and then the D will age and we'll be right back here.

We have to upgrade quarterback if we ever want to win big. Smith is a great solution for now, but we'll never win big with him.

Now let's beat those Raiders.

PS: I think I would add Flacco to my list.

Peyton Manning
Eli Manning
Russell Wilson
Collin Kaepernick
Aaron Rodgers
Tom Brady
RG3
Cam Newton
EJ Manuel
Andrew Luck
Drew Brees

I think Eli is the ultimate example of whether you'd like to have arm strength or decision making.

I agree that Alex isn't elite, and if Dorsey is going to Pioli his way through the next few years and not try to draft a franchise QB then yes, that would be stupid and I will be mad in a few years if that doesn't happen.

But for right now, we have the best thing that was available to us in the 2013 offseason, and the only thing to complain about is Scott Pioli not drafting anyone in 2012 and leaving us in a shitty situation. And I don't feel like complaining because Pioli is gone, there is no point, and I have confidence that Dorsey knows what he's doing, for now.

I just don's see the point in being negative about Smith right now. We're 5-0.

The last 8 super bowl winners included Flacco, Big Ben (2), Eli (2).  I wouldn't call any of them elite (upper half though) and obviously they all aren't doing well this season.  Each team did have a great defense though, and when each team's defense starting losing members, the team's wins went down.

Your right.. he single-handily won those seasons.

2008- Career low in passing yards at 3238.  21 TDs/10 INT.  60% completion.
2012- 3948 yards, 26 TDs/15 int.  60% comp.

It seems that when they increased Eli's role, they lose more.

EDIT:  was looking at seasons after superbowl.. off a line.

2008 Season:  3336 yards, 23/20 TD/INT
2012: 4900 yards, 29/16

My list:
Rodgers
RGIII
Luck
Manning
Manning
Big Ben
Vick
Matt Ryan
Kappernick
Wilson
Brady
Brees
Stafford
Vick (Marcus?)
Romo

You don't need a top draft pick to get an elite QB.  Stafford, Ryan, Big Ben, Luck, and RG3 are the only QBs that were top draft picks and haven't been available on the open market at some point in time.  You didn't name 15 QBs either, Vick is on there twice or I am assuming you meant Marcus for the second one.  In which case, HE'S AVAILABLE NOW!!!!!

yep, 100 yards shorter from one deep bomb he check down because we will already be up 2 scores against the bills... going into our bye week at 9-0.... and ready for the broncos.

... and about 7-8 less INTs

Well, all things roughly equal, I'd rather have the guy with 2 SB rings and who has actually played an entire season with those kinds of numbers. I don't really think I'm saying that I think Alex Smith is a bad QB when I say I'd rather have Eli Manning.

He had an amazing defense those years he won?  His WR's have been crazy good too.  Look at him now that the majority of plays has to be put on his shoulders.

Alex Smith's numbers were just awful when he was playing on bad teams. I think the 2 QBs are pretty similar, but I would rather have Eli because he has actually won something.

I guess I have a different perspective on things.  He had a great team around him those years, his team around him now is still very good.

He's thrown 12 INT in 5 games this year.  He has awful numbers on a good team.
