Weird how WackyTuck is ignoring the last 20 or so years of Chief QB choices,  Its like the Chiefs are organizationally fixated on thinking that the next castoff will be Len Dawson (a castoff) or Joe Montana (a castoff) like.

I guess the Hunts don't want to hear anymore about the guys they took over guys who turned into HOF'ers.

I'm making a simple observation on the Chiefs as an organization.  You on the other hand have gone to the mat for Alex Smith in a whole series of meltdowns in this thread.

I stopped defending A. Smith like 3 years ago, dummy. He was our best option at the time, so that's the only thing I defend.

was that #1 draft selection eric fisher who had to tackle 74 year old james harrison last night to keep him from getting to mobile qb alex smith?

First drive/Last drive. Both went for TDs. 55 yards and 77 yards on them.

7 drives in between the 2 TD..... 30 plays 95 yards. Smith 9-19, team rushing 10 carries 32 yds. 2 TOs, and 1 lousy FG after we started drive in Pitt territory.

Just really unacceptable for almost 45:00/3 full quarters, the offense mustered under 100 yds and about 3 yds per play.

Few plays that make me want to throw up in my mouth as I watch the game (I taped it and just watching some of it today) ....
1) 3rd and 10 on Pitt 2nd drive. We bring a 5 man blitz. Houston ends up covering Brown with no double team or no Safety help (Berry rotated to deep middle, and was nowhere close to help Houston)
2) Smith Int after being hit. Jah Reed was in being 6th OL and gets beat badly. Reed is in the game for only a few plays all game and has one of the biggest Eff ups of the night.
3) 3rd and 9 with about 3:40 left in 2nd qtr, and Bell runs the ball for 17 Yds.  We had 2 safeties 14 yds deep and neither one was able to come up and help once Bell did the power sweep run. Of course none of the 6 that were lined up in the box did a good job either of avoiding or getting off a block
4) 3rd and 7 for us after the Berry pick. Ware had a DT guarding him. Alex was flushed out to his left and didn't throw a good pass to Ware on the sideline. A completion could have gone for a big gain as no one was really close to Ware and the DT.
5) Smith not seeing Hill wide open streaking down left seam. Just typical Smith play where he doesn't see whole field and is unaware no one picked up Hill as he was running a fly pattern

I wasn't aware last night how often we had 2 DLineman 2 OLB (normally Houston Ford) Wilson and 6 DB/Safety on the field.  So that's 1 DLineman and 1 Inside LB (our base 3-4 Look) that were not out there on the field. No wonder our run D had some problems

The Chiefs have clearly screwed up with their QB situation in the past but pretending Clark Hunt just needs to choose to go and get Tom Brady is laughable.  I think they are largely playing it smart now by taking a QB every draft and seeing if one pans out.  They need to start looking a little earlier now though.

they're not playing their qb situation smart at all, exactly the opposite.
they keep grabbing other people's leftovers and hoping someone works out and is "good enough".  they've wasted so many years and dollars with this failed philosophy.  who was their last starting qb that they actually drafted?

I'm just defending the last 4 years or so.  The only decent QBs to come out of the draft that the Chiefs had a shot at were Bridgewater, Carr and maybe Garoppolo.  They are spending mid round picks on trying to find a QB to develop into a starter.  That's the right move but they need to start looking at using 2nd and 3rd round picks instead of 4s and 5s.

I guess you can blame Hunt but Reid shouldn't stretch to draft a mediocre QB late in the first just because the past 5 regimes failed to find a good one.
