Meh.  Had my summary judgment motion granted just yesterday.  :gocho:

Ron Prince claims he was offered the offensive coordinator position from Notre Dame after K-State fired him.

I believe Prince when he says he was offered the OC job at Notre Dame. But why on earth would he take that job when the special teams job at UVa was available? He had a much better chance at taking over as head coach at UVa — where he was loved prior to leaving for K-State — than getting the head job at Notre Dame.

Al Groh got fired, as RP no doubt expected.

But Prince's special teams were brutal and they wanted him out, too.

A good plan gone bad for Prince. Sound familiar?

UVa fans did love Prince. They didn't know anything about him because Groh never let his assistants speak, but they were mostly pleased with his play calling and thought he was an above average recruiter.

Don't recall seeing any UVa fans who were disappointed when Prince returned, either.

This would make sense, except Prince says he wasn't interested in becoming a head coach in college football anymore. He was ready to move onto the pros, but the pros had no interest at the time, and since the ND offer had passed by then after he waited out a chance in the NFL, he settled on UVA.

Notre Dame wouldn't let prince run their janitorial staff, let alone their offense.

uva fans did not love him. a good amount were happy he was leaving and though that his playcalling was really bad/vanilla and that their offense was pretty poor under him. obviously they weren't disappointed when he returned. he was a former head coach and offensive coordinator that was going to be the special teams coordinator for a pretty crappy fball program. hard to care either way about that. they were apathetic about his return.

Someone PM Jack Harry, from KMBC News, the scoop on this.  He'll crack this mother rough rider wide open, and he'll have Ron looking like a complete jackalope.

IIRC, Jack posts as Dickfer.

If KSU has to pay Prince, what are our chances of recovery against Krause?   Reply
The more I read about the depositions this week the less confident I am of KSU getting out of paying Prince. I'm no attorney and am curious if we have a strong case against Krause to try recover our losses. It's a very unpleasant situation KSU finds itself in: to perhaps file suit against its former AD whose wife works for the university and in-laws are some of its biggest supporters. Have to feel bad for the Vaniers and Schultz and Currie to try and resolve this thing.

By the way, Krause's idea of taking out a life insurance policy on himself is almost certainly not something any life insurance underwriter would ever consider. There is no "insurable interest" that would pass muster. Stupid stupid idea.

Do you really want to piss off the "Vanier Family"? I would leave that one alone. We messed up by putting him in that position that he was not prepared/trained to handle. Period. EMAW

Is there really a reasonable expectation that going forward that the Vanier family will contribute more to the University than the amount that their son-in-law mumped us out of? :dunno:  I honestly don't know, serious question.

While the Vaniers have obviously contributed a great deal in the past, it doesn't ensure that they'll contribute more in the future.  Personally, I thought that the timeliness of Krause's wife ditching him was more of a play to prevent the attachment to Vanier family assets should Bob get his mother rough ridin' ass sued off.  I say we do THAT.

So, why doesn't Krause just take the same life insurance policy out on himself with the proceeds of him getting smoked going to the school?

I know for a fact you CAN buy life insurance naming a school as bene.

You can sometimes name a corporation as the beneficiary.  Many corps have policies on their officers.  But I'd be shocked if Krause could simply buy a policy with Ron as the bene.

I think Krause was desparate and the ONLY way to promise anything close to $3mil was with a life policy.  Premiums would be in the $50k range.  Which he could afford, lot less than $3mill and he might get to keep his job.

i don't see how premiums could be 50k on a 3 mill policy for a 60ish dude.  how could the ins. company not expect to lose money on that?

He was going to take out a $1 million life insurance policy. If that helps.

If Ron says ND offered him, I believe him.

Still think he should have taken the Michigan job first, though.

The KSU Foundation has all kinds of estate planning vehicles, and one of them is obviously life insurance.   Lots of folks have taken out life insurance policies and named K-State as the beneficiary.

I have heard rumors that Bob Krause and Jack Sr. and Jack Jr. don't exactly give each other group hugs.  Don't know if it's true though.

Perhaps that is true, but after having numerous conversations with lawyers over the past 48 hours, I'm led to believe K-State has a shot in this case.

Only problem is, KSU should have BSAC doing the case rather than telling Manbeck how it can be won.   :frown:
