Iowa State's original renderings look a lot like that. Hope you guys don't get let down or anything with the difference from original plans to reality.

+that rendering is almost 2 years old.
+your guys' $20m budget is too high...
+limestone?  yes, some.
+drawings are in construction document phase.
+it will be exponentially better than ISU's ALCO building.

How long does construction document phase last?

BSAC (BigShotArchitectCat) told me it takes a few hours.

If $20M is too high, I expect the new one to be dumpier than the old drawing. Tell me I'm wrong and that KSU will not yet again go the cheap route on something you really only get to do once.

You're not understanding the current desperate state of the construction industry.

Hey, if we can get a better product for less, I'm all about it, but until there's a nice pic for me to ogle, it's hard to believe it won't look like the indoor football practice building.

twenty6 is definitely "in the know."  That's all accurate.  Can't divulge anything more at this point (I'm really not that well connected, just happened to get some info on this particular project), but I will share with you a quote that pleased me...

Quote
This is going to be a high quality building with an impressive level of finish for a collegiate facility, making ku's and iowa state's, or anything in the North look like amateur hour in comparison

Sounds like Curry and Veatch are really, really close to getting this done....and apparently done "the right way."   :kstatriot:

Uhh, no, Iowa State's original renderings do not look a lot like that.  Iowa State's renderings look exactly like the finished product.

Iowa State's facility cost 8 million.  Basically, the equivalent of a small community center.

Looks like ISU also saved some money by using MS Paint for the renderings.

It was until the whole Octagon thing took off and they realized modifying Bramlage to add the facility building would eff that all up.  I think they'll still be connected via tunnel/bridge or something but not to where we lose the Octagon shape.

The initial modified Bramlage would've been a lot better.  Way to go, _FAN.

Just had a thought. Can we paint the Octagon's concourse floor purple, or anything but concrete color? Seems like that would go a long way in making the concourse look less like a crap hole.  Surely if we're so far over budget on this we can chuck some money at that as well

They are from 2006. So I think that would be Sims 2. Sims 1 came out in like 2002. Not quite sure though.

It was until the whole Octagon thing took off and they realized modifying Bramlage to add the facility building would shazbot! that all up.  I think they'll still be connected via tunnel/bridge or something but not to where we lose the Octagon shape.

it will not be connected structurally to bramlage.
