I saw a handmade cassette for The Black Mariah Theater at a local coffee shop/record store.  While I can't play a cassette, I pulled it up on Spotify and it was impressive.  It's just a couple of sisters in KC.

I went to the show on Saturday and they were a good time.  The lead singer has a powerful voice.

Also, the ice cream shop attached to the Rino has good ice cream.

Randomly stumbled across this. Have you ever wondered what a Paul Wall from Wyoming would sound like? I enjoyed it.

The Turquoise on the grill was an amazing western touch and this verse just bangs.

Used to hit the Duffies for the breakfast
Chains on potna
I aint talking bout no necklace
I’m talking tires slippin
Trying to grab some traction
Dodge dippin downtown
Patna I’m talking back when
Now it’s past tense
But I still get patty melts from the Dash Inn
And I still hunt the hill with the scantling
Chucking buckskins in the backseat

The Bend Oregon summer concerts are cranking up.

Quote
Inspired by the golden era of soft rock, Yacht Rock Revue has mastered the art of recreating the breezy and laid-back tunes that defined a generation. From the sun-kissed melodies of Steely Dan and Michael McDonald to the velvety harmonies of Hall & Oates, their repertoire spans an ocean of beloved hits that evoke memories of palm trees, ocean breezes and carefree summers.

But Yacht Rock Revue isn't just a tribute band; they are musical alchemists, seamlessly blending their own unique style with the iconic yacht rock vibe. Their original compositions are a modern ode to the genre, capturing the essence of those bygone days while infusing it with a fresh and invigorating twist. Their first original record, titled "Hot Dads In Tight Jeans," showcases the bands complete range of skills that simultaneously transports the listener to a more modern era. While “Step,” the record’s first single, is a peppy number replete with falsetto and bumping bass, the rest of the album is more akin to Phoenix or Air, the hip bands that adapted Yacht for a younger audience.

A week away from this event, and the special guest is still TBA

The Brad Paisley Truck Still Works tour seemed like a popular place tonight when I rode my bicycle past, a full 2 hours before the show.  :Carl:

Maybe I will roll past this weekend to catch some Black Keys or Leon Bridges   :dunno:

Just discovered Winona Fighter today which they are so good! Highly recommend if you enjoy women lead punk bands. They give Paramore vibes.

Just read a little more and they are based out of Nashville so that explains a lot.

Huge fan of Winona Fighter. There's a band called world's greatest dad that I really enjoy and their Spotify Radio led me to WF. They are punk/emo with a female singer, but that's where the comparison ends. Anyway, their album Get Well Soon is a top 10 album all time for me if you're looking for music recs.
