Klieman's postgame was pretty telling - said we need to figure out our "identity" on both offense and defense.
Not great two games into the season.
New OC, new QB, new Oline, et al.
This stuff doesn't all click together in a few weeks of practice. They'll figure it out.
Yeah, to me the second half was if anything a pretty overall good positive. Other than the incredibly stupid 3rd and 21 give up the defense really improved, and the offense had a very fluid drive in response to their only score in the second half, which came off of said 3rd and 21 give up. It was a perfect mixture of tempo, run, and pass.
It just seems we were timid, and a little scared/yips tbh in the first half. They just need to not played scared and be comfortable establishing a run, and also getting the WRs and Edwards more involved or on some isolations and let them make a play to get Avery settled. It's not that he's only going vertical it just feels like they rather do swing passes to the RBs, which isn't bad but like it needs to spread more.
We played not great, but also I didn't see anything that couldn't be significantly improved with some practice/film improvements. The secondary is the only area I have any lingering concerns but again our blitz packages definitely made their work harder. I'm not totally sold on our dline not getting push or hurries, we had 5 sacks and 11 TFL. Again plenty of blitz issues, but it just seemed way more we got them in long situations pretty regularly, and then just forgot what to do on 3rd down.
