Base camp was Baton Rouge.  Mrs8 wanted a drive by tour of LSU campus so we stopped in to see Mike the tiger.  Headed on over to Walkons for dinner then.  Two parade pictures that made me LOL.

I feel like I've truly rounded out my Louisiana experience bc I am now sitting on westbound I10 bc some bad person got in a wreck on this 20 mile long bridge where you shut the whole rough ridin' thing down if you get in a wreck. We're at mile marker 125.7 in case any other gE'rs wanna shoot the crap since we aren't going anywhere for a while
Missed opportunity for an encounter by a tenth of a mile.

:horrorsurprise:

Crazy (but also not really that crazy since there were a lot of taters on their way out of town at that time) but yes I remember that lady in the photo bc I was sitting on that same guard rail looking down the way
I was smoking heaters next to her and her husband.

Thankfully, my drive home was only four hours to the other side of Louisiana.

Having been to the Fiesta Bowl (in Tempe), Alamo Bowl, holiday Bowl, and insight.com bowl, I can definitely say the sugar bowl is the best experience. Wish I could have made it to the parade!

It was pretty damn good. Weirdly spread out and the taters were a bit much, fighting kids for beads, but it was good.

The pep rally was ass and I wish I wouldn't have gone through the trouble to go.

Not a big fan of Dr Pepper the drink (huge fan of winning them) but they were handing these out for free as I left the game and I felt obligated to take one.

They only gave them out on one corner of the damn stadium  :curse:

Enjoyed seeing so many taters still around today and got some sugar bowl gear deals. I'll be flying a sugar bowl kstate flag at our tailgate next year.

My experience in NOLA was decent but somewhat dampened on account of contracting vibriosis after eating raw oysters at the Tacklebox on NYE.

So I had turtle soup at Felix's for the first time this weekend and it was the best thing I have ever eaten in my life.

Also averaged at least 18 oysters a day and DID NOT get sick once

Some random thoughts from the game:

-Best national anthem ever
-Taters got a "Home of the CHIEFS" in
-Why on earth was the powercat rotated like 15 degrees on all the scoreboards, like what the eff? Lol
-bama fan got really excited and went "Boom!" for like pretty lame hits
-Annonncer felt like a bama Homer but they were also having more good things happen
-Needed more fan cam stuff and less stuff about honoring Ole Miss qb's who played before integration

Anyway, loved being able to walk from the hotel to the game to Bourbon Street

Enjoyed the RAWRRRAWRRAWRR they played over the loudspeaker but I don't think they started doing that till the 2nd half (when there were far fewer reasons to RAWRRRAWRRAWRR)

If that wasn't Alabama's PA announcer, it sure in the hell sounded a lot like him. The whole damn drive home my kids kept saying FIIIIRRRRRSSSSSTTTTDDDDOOOOOWWWWNNNN ALABAMA then ROOOOOOLLLLLL TIDE

To be fair, I feel like we got the most enthusiastic “IIIIIITS GOOOOD!” after the extra point when we scored in garbage time.

We said “ShugahBahwwwwll” about 1,000 times during/after the game.

Even without the once-in-a-lifetime seats we got, this was an amazing experience.

Pretty sure that as the home team, we got to bring along our own, Mitch Fortner, to be the public address announcer.

LOL, what? If you thought that was Mitch, you didn't hear the dude, he was very Southern and sounded a lot like Alabama's guy does on TV. Mitch did announce the band during pregame and halftime though.
