I think Nebraska should focus on fired/disgraced coaches who are looking for that one last chance to prove they have it.
Art Briles

That is the most perfect recommendation ever.  If he could hold up Lawrence Phillips as the ideal Husker for all to model after.

I really wouldn't put any disgraced coach beneath them.  Urban, Gruden, or Briles would not surprise me.

A lot of them seem to really want Urban.

I don't know. I just can't make myself care if the football team I like to root for on Saturdays is coached by a guy who committed adultery.

Adultery seems like a mild offense for football-coach-types.

ISU is going to take a step back this/next year and it’s time for him to monetize (further) what he’s done before he gets a stinker season or two that really messes his stock up.

I mean, if you think that's all Urban has ever done, then he'd be one of my top picks. However, my judgement says he's much closer to an Art Briles type than he is a Major Applewhite.

Urban's a slime ball. He's had two of the absolute best HC jobs in the NCAA and quit on both of them. Every Aaron Hernandez wannabe would be flocking to Lincoln and Urban would be waiting there for them with open arms and checkbook.

But maybe they deserve each other. I want them to be successful about as much as i want the POS school east of us to be successful.

Matt Campbell can do better but I do agree that he may have overplayed his stay in Ames. Probably should have left a couple of years ago.

Maybe Nubs should figure out where Baylor finds its coaches - Rhule and Aranda have both restored a tradition of winning at Baylor.  Some of you have suggested Nub contact Rhule before he gets canned in the NFL, that seems like an excellent idea.

He's not leaving the NFL for that job.

He's probably not going to get fired before the early signing period. They should be minimally decent with Baker Mayfield and Christian McCaffrey. IDK maybe you're right tho, I don't know crap about the NFL.

Rhule makes a lot sense for them. He is a cringey dumpster fire in the NFL but his crap seems to work in college. Timing might be right too

the Pete Carroll effect will get Rhule a much better job than Nebraska - he is a big ten guy but Neb is a bottom half job in that league

I like this logic. I wonder tho, would he rather be the god of Iowa state for as long as he chooses, or the roll the dice at NU and either neither their next (very rich) potential victim or annually vying for big 10 division championships (I think he is a very good coach)?

Also, which do I prefer? I guess I’d rather have him out of the conference, but I’d hate to see him resurrect Nebraska.

My guess is that they’d pay him top 10 money, if not top 5.

Derek Young says Mark Stoops is the best choice for them. If they can get him they should pay whatever he asks.
