This is what happens when you let people into your school that scored a 17 on the ACT.

I dislike it because it makes KSU look like pathetic losers. Who gives a damn about KU except when we're playing them? ESPECIALLY, in football, a sport we've been FAR superior in for 1-2 generations. It's very "little brother". Also, "eff" IS just a word, but if you're going to be crass and edgy (especially around children) at least make it count. It's gratuitous. I guess we are who they think we are.

Oh gosh, Susan, those kids said eff. Now little Billy is going to spiral into a life of drug abuse and homelessness.

I agree, Don! Why can’t we enjoy the spectacle of another group of kids destroying their bodies for our amusement without such vulgarity!

Some (many!) contexts just aren't appropriate for organized, chanted profanity, OK Cat.  A sporting event against South Dakota at LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium is probably one of the many.

It’s fine, friend. We aren’t ever going to agree on this. I have never been offended by words and don’t understand what that is like. Ultimately, I feel like a lot of time is being wasted on such a trivial thing IMO

This is a case study in why America's rugged individualism is often despised by foreigners. It doesn't matter if the word "eff" offends you personally. You belong to a collective society that is largely offended by its use in public, especially around children. It's not about YOU. YOU are the outlier, asking them to conform to your mores.

But again, for me it's more pathetic when we use the chant. Save it for KU week.

At UT games there is a part of the fight song where most everyone (at least on the student side) says “give ‘em hell give ‘em hell, make ‘em eat crap.”

It wasn’t until much later I realized that part was supposed to be “go horns go” and it morphed into the cussing part during old rivalry games with Arkansas. But now they just do it for every game.

This feels like a dumber version of that.

It started with The Hey Song and evolved to where we are today.

this reminds me of the summer of 1996. the song was Macarena and we were all so crazy about the song and the dance that we would do the macarena dance to other songs that had a beat that worked with the dance because it wasn't playing on the radio at that very moment but we just really wanted to do the dance.

to dlews point, i'm fine with us doing the macarena dance, i think we should just save it for when the song is playing.

Ksu students want to show how little respect they have for our rivals? How about 'Cuck KU' but they don't say it, they do it. Systematically, one GF and wife at a time, we make this rivalry very, very personal. I think it's a win-win. We continue to show mad disrespect, but keep it off television.

This was really deep and insightful. Prob way too deep and insightful to describe people being mad about college students saying eff at games, but deep and insightful nonetheless.

I want this on record. I 100% want us to be known for disrespecting other schools.

This is why Winters is The King of Real Zeal.

What happens if the students start doing this chant during every song the band plays?

Or what if they only do the chant when the band isn't playing? WHAT NOW!?!?

Need we remind the band of the jayhawk-schlong formation of which they are so fond?

The admin are making this much worse, which is how this whole thing started anyways.

Sandstorm used to be "K-S-U" unless we were playing KU, when the chant would break out. Then the dweeb that is JC tried to enforce a behavior policy/code of conduct which was promptly laughed at. Then he banned sandstorm which made it "a thing" to a bunch of teenagers. When that didn't work, admin tried to police the bball games and things have just slowly escalated from there. Now it's happening in the football stadium.

I think it's ridiculous to chant anything against KU when we're not playing them. I don't care about it when we are. However, to threaten to not play our "historic" fight song because some students are just being dumb about all of this won't solve this either. It's going to continue to make it worse as the students will continue to take it as a challenge to try and throw it in whenever they can.

Big time programs have big time chants.

https://twitter.com/JimMWeber/status/1553724209335078914?t=E8gs87HPp17KVW0WoKxceA&s=19
Yep.

At every single game, half of Wisconsin’s student section chants “eat crap,” and the other half chants “eff you.”

This happens all over the country.

The band leader is a complete dork and needs to shut up, because he’s making this worse.

Band leader: if you guys don’t stop doing college student stuff, then we will stop playing.

Everyone: dibs on the old band seats

Also, does anyone else think it’s weird that the the band leader insists on being called a doctor?

Count me in as a pro band man. Also an anti-profanity man (at games around kids).

I wish there were a way to amplify the band by pumping them thru the giant jbl speaker on top of OOD, but I understand the difficulty/impossibly.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.
