Pete stay with me here but I think part of what makes him effective in comedic roles is because of his serious work that made him famous in the first place. Like just watching the comedic stuff in a vacuum with no context its like okay yeah, that's pretty funny i guess. But its way more funny when its "oh look its that super serious doctor from ER, and he's being a silly goose!!!!!"

I like George Clooney as an actor, but I've never really cared (or really been aware of) his "comedic roles." Seems like he mostly just plays a "cool guy" that has a zinger every now and then.
