He almost slipped and said some of his family got health insurance for the first time because of the aca, which would be a pretty good accompaniment to the lie of Trump saving Obamacare

Gotta give it to JD, he comported himself well in that debate. For two hours he appeared poised, intelligent, and even halfway normal. He was slimy and smooth and clearly a well-trained politician which had to have been a little off-putting for at least a small margin of voters who hate that. But credit where it's due, on body language he won that debate. It almost made America forget that, at best he is a complete frackin' weirdo who can't do something as simple as ordering a donut in a normal way, and at worst he is a monster who thinks 10-year-old rape victims should be forced to give birth.

"We campaigned on repealing the ACA and failed = we saved the ACA."
"We tried to stage a coup on Jan 6 and failed = Trump participated in the peaceful transfer of executive power"
"We voted against funding for disaster relief = the Demoncraps are controlling hurricanes to kill white people in red states"

I think it's interesting that rural and "every day Americans!!!!!" have sort of switched from supporting candidates that at least lie and try to appear like normal human beings like GW, McCain, maybe Regan to fawning over scumbag suits from NY (Trump obv) and Ivy league "build a politician" like Vance, DeSantis. I prob just don't follow this stuff that much, but that just seems interesting to me.

Yeah Josh Hawley is another one in that group. Their views are almost scarier than Trump but they seem relatively "normal". On the flip side, these guys might force Dems to take real policy positions rather than being nothing more than "not trump" and pro-democracy

It is very odd, but I take that as trump is so weird to the whole thing you almost want a normal oily politician see below:

Also I thought the moderators were pretty bad
Yeah.  It was frustrating when they would cut them off.  The two would actually be having an interesting back-and-forth (refreshing!) and then the moderators would abruptly stop them.

Shut up! They’re engaging each other respectfully on substantive issues!  Let’em cook!

This was the first debate in a while I didn’t find pretty depressing.

I chalk this up to the trump effect, if there is one. He's so different and so weird it makes you want to have something "normal". Like I very much can concede I understand the feelings that got him to be president in 2016. You can see if you were offered last night why a guy like trump appeals, it's different. But after 8 years of hearing that crap, I cannot for the life of me understand why you would still want any of that. He makes everyone else look practically sane and normal.

I think my biggest little take away was for example the whole point on climate change, Vance had to like, essentially defend the ethos of trump while at the same time being like "i don't really believe him/that". He had to be the adult in the situation, which is super ass weird, and I think everyone sees that now. You almost feel bad for Vance (and I do not like him).

I think Walz has been a whole lot better than Vance. It's a pretty low bar to clear, though.

He seems nervous and unprepared and lets Vance off the hook too much
Walz is supposed to let him off the hook. He’s being himself. He’s not a lifelong politician. He’s just a retired teacher with a pension, and that’s what regular dudes do when they talk about this stuff…make their point and not get bent out of shape or be an bad person.

I think they should have just called the debate when Vance refused to say Trump lost the 2020 election.

I didn't watch because this crap is just the worst, but yeah. Trump even said it recently. He still lied, but he at least said he lost. If these assholes still won't say it, they should be disqualified. It's rough ridin' ridiculous at this point, but they know there are still millions of idiots out there with "stop the steal" on their twitter profiles.

I'm just not sure how far GLP-1 will take you. The only people I know anecdotally who have had success from it have gone from enormous to about what JD Vance actually looks like today. That's a huge success, but still...

Walz isn't good at this

It’s challenging to debate someone who is brighter than you
