A coach bringing excitement and big name recruits has value even if he totally sucks as a coach and has to be let go in a few years. I’d definitely say we overpaid him if that’s what happens, but I don’t think it will.

I always think of Leonard Hamilton at Oklahoma State. They had sucked for so long in basketball and Leonard Hamilton came in and really upgraded the talent but he was just a horrible bench coach,  ever finished above fourth place in the big 8 and never made it to the NCAA tournament. Oklahoma State fired him and hired Eddie Sutton who took that talent, won the big 8 and took the team to the sweet 16 in the first year and the rest is history. Leonard Hamilton had long run at Miami and is in his 20th year at Florida State. They always have tremendous talent, but they seem to underachieve.

 Hamilton's last 4-5 seasons at FSU have been pretty dang good. But yeah, always hire the best recruiter you can. If it doesn't work out, you have good players!
