Trump has been saying this for a while now, that we don’t have to spend as much on defense “because we have these big beautiful oceans”.

"You will feel it in the future" was an incredibly dumb thing to say imo. I assume he got pretty pissed off about JD trying to say he knows what's happening on the ground in Ukraine and let his emotions get the better of him.

He knew there was nothing to gain from that meeting other than appealing to the American viewer. I also took that comment to be in relation to Russian influence more than predicting an actual invasion (which Russia has shown it really sucks at when the other side has modern weapons).
