We're coming off a period when there was the most global conflict than at anytime since WWII

#blueanon-neocon/#neocongE is going to fight to the bitter end to keep the death and destruction going as long as possible.

The lashing out over the embarrassment of seeing Vlad Putin take advantage of not one, but two Democrat administration is only going to embolden them in their fight for the war to go as long as possible.

For blueanon-neocon/#neocongE . . . it's still the 1950's and 60's. I am waiting to hear about Domino Theory 2.0 at any moment.

What do you guys think the appropriate response was?  Keep fighting the war?
Tell Russia to stop blowing up kindergartens, kidnapping Ukrainian kids, bombing hospitals and nuclear waste sites or else "We will retaliate in a ways that are Very Strong and have NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE in History!!! On DAY ONE!!!" We need to keep operating with faith that whatever Trump declares is reality, right?

The world tried to sanction Russia to death and it didn't work. The US sent money and munitions to Ukraine to beat back Russia and Putin just threw a million conscripted bodies into the meat grinder.  If winning means beating Russia back to the original borders then it's going to cost a lot more money and a tremendous loss of Ukrainian life to do so. It was the right thing to keep them from over running the whole country but I think Russia has much more tolerance for pain than the US/Ukraine does to fight a perpetual war.

I agree that a return to 1991 borders is probably not going to happen but how did we go from being so powerful that we could talk about annexing Canada, Greenland, the Gaza Strip and the Panama Canal to telling Putin "yeah, you can have most of the stuff you wanted when you started this war."

The stated goal has always been to end the war.

The fact that #neocongE is going to lash out because their POTUS(ES) failed in stopping Vlad Putin, isn't going to change the stated goal of the current administration.

I honestly don't know what any of those things has to do with how the US handles the Ukraine - Russian conflict.  I could be getting gE'd here though haha.

I mean literally everyone is going to have their own definition of winning
It seems like Ukraine and the US should have been able to define this!

Anyway, I’m pro peace, man.
Why? The US only has a nominal interest in protecting Ukraine and its people. Their primary goal in this conflict is (or should be) preventing Russian expansion.

Ukraine is motivated to protect its people and land above all else.

This leads to us having very similar short term goals, but it’s not a perfect alignment of interests. Nor will it ever be.

“Winning” might look like (in part) getting a eff load of rare earth minerals.

That won’t happen because they can’t take that much territory even if we completely back out

I watched a short film the other day. The UK and the UK military is wholly reliant on the warm comfy blanket of US military power. Their navy is a shambles, their army a mere speed bump against any powerful adversary.  They’re a complete mess.

They have almost as many admirals as they do combat ready/capable ships.

Thanks (again) American taxpayer

Interesting.  I don't think its a mystery that the UK has not prepared to fight a war against a sizable foe without the US

No it's not a mystery, dug. That's not the point.

The point of course is, the UK is barely capable of even being a good right hand they've so depleted and underfunded their military.

I will give a slightly qualified tip of the hat to Trump on his ability to motivate NATO Member states to pull their fair share.

The slight qualification is that I would prefer to have a more hospitable relationship with them and less adversarial. Having said that, I acknowledge that geopolitical relationships can be mended very very quickly when they need something from you.

Pete, Christoph Heusgen was up at the podium crying like a child because JD Vance took the euro's to task for assigning their governments and their intelligence agencies to attack free speech.

The same dude laughed when Don Trump told them to stop buying energy from Vlad Putin (man, Don Trump was a shitty Putin Puppet) . . . Chris is not laughing anymore, as Germany's economy has been severely impacted by the Ukranian war and the United States (Biden) enabling Ukraine to blow up the Nordstream pipeline.

Don Trump warned them, but they still chose the FO portion of FAFO

Now these same Euro idiots are scrambling around trying to spend money like it's still the cold war, and it's going to be a lot more expensive as compared to back when Don Trump warned them 6 or 7 years ago.
