Right now, it's whatever, but if one state does it, you gotta think more than one will. It will be interesting to see if a swing state does it. I mean, if the lawyer in Florida that filed his case won, that would pretty much be a wrap for Don.

Yeah, a purple state would be best.

To answer your question a few posts back: no, it has just begun. But I expect the state to seek dismissal for lack of standing, and I suspect they would win.

He won Wisconsin in 2016, lost in 2020.

I don't know. But if, say, Wisconsin removes him from the ballot, and a lawsuit commences, it would absolutely get fast-tracked, because obviously a resolution would be required before November 2024.

I think removing him without a conviction is pretty shaky, and I'd really doubt our supreme court would uphold that. I don't see how they could possibly rule against him being off the ballot if he's convicted, though.

Section 3 of the 14th Amendment says nothing about being adjudged. It merely says participation. As with many things Trump, we're plowing new ground, here. I share your pessimism about a SCOTUS outcome, but even his appointees haven't really shown particular loyalty to him in prior rulings. Who knows.
