I legitimately think what DeSantis is doing to education and LGBT is more sinister and sadistic than anything Trump did. He's going to govern based on libsoftiktok videos. But I could be swayed, they both really suck.

I don't think DeSantis is above rigging elections and I think it will be hard for anyone to commit a coup

Trump would be determined not to make the same "mistakes" again. Everyone he'd appoint would be a complete nutjob. Things would be far crazier than they were in his first term.

I agree that DeSantis would be willing to step down at the end of a term and Trump would not be. There's just a lot of worrisome macro level stuff within that party right now, though.

I haven't seen/heard Desoro's express any wishes of being a dictator or fawning over other dictators of the world yet.  I totally agree with you about his "anti-woke" crap causing real harm.  Both are horrible choices imo.
