Yeah, we're just coming off an election when the incumbent got thumped. At some point the Dems will need to decide if they're going to listen to what people are telling them or make a bunch of lame ass excuses when they lose in '24 because the turnout is awful

Maybe I'm jaded, but I feel like "if you're not for me my political machine will run you over" can (reductively) describe a lot of presidential candidates' election strategies.  Accusing your opponent of being a pedophile or whatever is...probably fairly novel.  But these types of non-policy-related attacks (including sexual innuendo) aren't really anything new.  Acting like they're harbingers of some new authoritarian age seems pretty dramatic.
