I get that they want a vet backup on the team, but you can't risk losing a young, NFL caliber QB that you could have on a cheap contract for years.  Teddy raises the floor of the team but Skyler, particularly if Tua hasn't convinced the ownership, could raise the ceiling.  It's a mistake if the Dolphins try and get him on the practice squad and I assume another team will take advantage.

This Jim Rose guy sounds like an idiot.  Skylar is looking like QB1 in games.  Your other QBs are awful.

No argument here, of course.  I think he assumes the Fins stick with Teddy as the veteran backup, and a 3rd QB on the roster is a luxury they just can't afford.

Is this the same Jim Rose who used to do the Nebraska play by play and was one of the biggest homers in the history of sport?  He was also a huge prick to KSU players every chance he got.
Looks like the guy's name is Joe Rose, still an idiot though.

A lot of celebration for a guy that still probably doesn’t make the team

Thing is, a lot of Skylar Thompson types go out against the scrubs and don't do anything.

It's still the NFL.

Yeah, I would be cutting Bridgewater if I were in charge of the Dolphins. Only a complete dumbass would get rid of your most productive QB, even if it is coming against the scrubs trying to make a roster. Bridgewater hasn't shown anything at all.

I'm not sure how Bridgewater's contract is setup, but i'm not sure it's that easy. I think he's due 10 mill this year. They're keeping sky tho.

Sky played all of week 1.  Did the starters not play for the other team there?  I would assume he got at least some snaps against a first string.

One of two things is going to happen given his performance in the pre season.

1. Miami signs him to 53 man
2. Miami cuts him and designates him to practice squad and another team immediately snatches him and signs him the day he hits waivers.

Sorry, I got the names conflated.  The radio tandem is Jim Cefalo and Joe Rose, it was Jim who gave his opinion.

I would love the entertainment value of ST getting put on practice squad, picked up by another team and continuing to kick ass with other team.

Simultaneously, Tua ends up sucking ass as expected and Miami suffers indefinitely given their cap space with other talent and shitty QB play.

To anyone who has been riding with the Dolphins for as long as I, this feels... preordained.

Looks like it's $6.5 million, and it's a one year deal, so there aren't any cap savings to be had by cutting him. Still, if you have to choose one or the other, you choose the guy you can lock up for a multi-year deal for less than $1 million per and eat the $6.5 million. Otherwise, you have to go overpay for some other journeyman backup next year.

I'm sure they'll see if they can trade him to a team like the Seahawks or something.

Oh yean, definitely. I was thinking Teddy tho. I could see a team trading for him like the Texans, so they can keep Sky.

such a big part of sports is confidence, this start couldn’t be better for his head.  hopefully he continues to build on it.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Dude looks like he should work for the NSA not the NFL. At any rate, looks like Sky is sitting pretty top get rostered.

You missed the whole thing about him being propped up as a minority hire when he was hired days after Brian Flores sued them for discrimination? It was a pretty wild week.
