Circa 2000, every 3rd car on the road in Salina was a mid-90s Pontiac Grand Prix or Grand Am. I don’t know if this was true everywhere or some used car dealer in Salina got truckloads of them and dumped them at a discount.
absolutely true and add in a pontiac sunfire for their teenage daughter

SUNFIRE! I was trying to think of that car earlier for this thread and couldn't remember it. I wanted that convertible a lot.

The pandemic has me going on like a four mile walk every day through my neighborhood to try to keep the ol' sanity intact. There's a dude on my route that has a primo '94 Prelude, just absolutely rough ridin' cherry. And this guy is probably in his early 50s with a mullet. He absolutely bought this thing new and has doted on it every single second since then. I've never felt more envy in my life. I want this goddam car. I wonder if a man like that would ever part with it though? Once I get my chip I may stop and ask him about it.

Does it have ground lights? If that thing has ground lights you’re just going to have to steal it.
I got a guy on the other line about some white walls

Death trap but also awesome. Had two kids from my small town high school die in two different wrecks in this car.

The Prelude is not the least bit ugly IMO.  I'd take that '94 no hesitations.

Pontiac Fiero.

Now this is an ugly car that I also love the hell out of.

The special ed teacher at Tinytown Grade School drove one of these. She was morbidly obese so it was a very large person in a very small car. We were intrigued by the way the headlights would flip down if not in use.

This was a coveted car in my teen years.  Lol.

Does anyone remember the Chevy Vega or the Chevy Monza?  Oh my god, if you are looking at the definition of a piece of crap, this is right here for you.  This was at the beginning of the 4 banger revolution where companies were building for lowered gas consumption with little regard for engine performance or stability.  These were terrible, cheap cars and were basically designed to be thrown away after a very short time frame.

I do know a guy that squeezed a 350 into a Monza.  That little piece of crap would scream down the road.  When you got it up to 130, it would shake like the earth was quaking.

just look at the article I pulled the image from

Then, of course, there was the icemaker. An option in the LE trim, a shoebox-size refrigerator was cooled with air-conditioning refrigerant lines and came with spill-proof ice trays. Toyota replaced the Van with the Previa in 1990, but, sadly, the new Hot/Cool Box was available only in the European versions. We're not sure why. They don't even like ice over there.

Haha, I bet it rode like a used Toyota.  Not that it matters to a teenager that's just trying to get some trim.
