the rehearsal is losing my interest, sadly
Yeah, I had a lot of hope after E1, but it feels like we kind of got bait and switch'd a little bit.

I'm here for it because it's so incredibly unique.  I would've enjoyed more like e1 but I'm also game for whatever weird ride Nathan's sending us on.  Throughout an episode, I'll laugh, cringe, and feel empathy for these people.  That's more than I get from most shows.

HBO gave critics the first five episodes of the show but not the sixth, which suggests some subterfuge. Each episode has a moment (or moments!) where you can feel the rug pulled out from under you, and something you assumed was true suddenly becomes a fabrication. (Next week’s episode has such a moment, and it took my breath away.)

Also, I keep having this thought that the end of season 1 will be Nathan saying that this season has all been a rehearsal for season 2. Then they show clips of season 2 and it's all the same bits but with different people that look similar to all the characters in this season.

Man, kind of a heartbreaking finale.  Such a weird meta-world he builds.  I can't imagine what is on deck for S2

No heartbreak here.  I loved him seizing on the mom's perspective to run the rehearsal to show that any negative consequences were her fault and clear himself.

I thought the season was kind of stupid, tbh.  First episode was so promising.

Oh crap, you reminded me I still have the season 2 finale of How To! Really didn't want it to end.

What's the strategy for that show? They have like 2 decades of hilarious and bizarre New York footage and try to make a narrative out of the funniest ones?

John Wilson is on Marc Maron's podcast this week. Not sure I've seen/heard him out of character.
